[QUOTE="gearsofwin"]Yes and if this is the case that would mean SMG2 is improved enough to deserve its 10. Thank you for proving TC's point. I believe nostalgia is, as stated, a double-edged sword. It has to live up to hype built by nostalgia, but nostalgia also increases enjoyment. It all balances out in the end and the game has to be great. TC says Nintendo games that get a certain score are better than other games that get the same score because they are hurt by nostalgia. His "proof" was that Nintendo games are often blamed for not being better than their predecessors and that Twilight Princess would have scored better if Ocarina of Time hadn't come out (it's just not an amazing game dude). But this should be attributed to standards increasing over time, regardless of whether or not your game is a sequel or not, games are scrutinized more with each passing year. Bottom line having an old name and franchise doesn't give your games higher standards like TC is trying to sayWow, standards increase over time, and sequels are expected to be better than their predecessors? Nice find

I really hope the nintendo fanboys do take his advice and go out and do new things, I tmight insoire nintendo to stop rehashing the same games they've been milking for the past 2 decades and give you a new IP.
IronBass
I have not played SMG2, but many reviews say it is a very original game, with a lot of variety.
Just because it's an old IP it does not mean it's a rehash.

The East has its Dynasty Warriors clones and the West has its Call of Duty clones. Generalizing the game output of either side because of those games is foolish.

Except that fact that there is enough improvements about Call of Duty to actually make it get good scores. Can't say the same for NNN2 & DW though.
When we look at it. DMC is heading in the same direction. The first one was the only one which was really good, but maybe because it was unique. The 'wow' factor didn't last past the first game. It is nothing more than an average action game now.
Bayonetta was unique, but the uniqueness won't last past the first one. If Sega follows the exact same formula for the second one (and they most probably will), it won't score higher than 9.0.
If we look at jrpgs in general, it's practically the same thing over and over. Games like FF13 follow down the same road it did years ago, only better graphics this time. The other jrpgs which is basically the almost 2D top down approach is the same it was 10 to 15 years ago.
If you're playing the scores game you can't call DMC an "average action game now"Some western devs make terrible games too give it a rest
I'd have to say that such games could and will only come from japanese developers.jhcho2
How narrow-mindedThank god for that. Slow and sluggish aiming is unnacceptable in an FPS.

can someone explain to me why we never see racist White commercials or advertising causing such a outrage? is it only OK unless you do it to every other ethnicity? I really dont wanna get in a heated discussion about this, but tis something I notice.
ActicEdge
Lol, what does racist white advertising look like? Hell, what is a racist image of a white person look like? Tbh, I can think of many inappropriate depictions of lots of races but I draw blank when it comes to "white". Its not people looking for racism more than there really aren't many obvious "white" attacks I guess. (this topic is sooo stupid)
Irish drunks, angry Italian gweedos, petty Frenchmen, etc.... There are a lot of stereotypes of predominantly white races
