The battles as well as the campaign have been extremely watered down. The UI looks like it's from a SCIFI game, and the whole thing has written port all over it. CA betrayed their hard core fan base with this game: Rome Total Warning: Stay the hell away from it.
In general this is probably true, but my brain seems to be more like: free means free and if it doesn't I ain't buying it 'cause I don't like to be tricked.
@Jamoid @geitenvla I kinda know what you mean. Sometimes you just know you're gonna win and the auto resolve will turn out in decisive victory. But I never could force myself to press that button. I've had battles with remnants of my army, a lonely group of Hastati for instance that got attacked by a full force and was unable to retreat. Still I guided those men in battle.
I might be a little extreme, but I just love the sight of my army marching the landscape and doing everything by hand.
@Jamoid I'm not going to tell you how to play the game, as long as you're having fun with it you're doing a good job. But what you just said is unthinkable for me. Not alone do I enjoy commanding my Roman army, but there have been many battles that would have ended in a crushing defeat if played out by the auto resolve. The opposite is true as well. Battles I easily should have won, but lost due to a bad approach on the battlefield or bad timing on my behave.
