It's this reason why I hate my country and what it has become. If this was 1960, everybody would be concerned. My Dad used to talk about how he read the newspaper every morning and watched the evening news with my grandpa every night. He'd go to school and things like the Cold War and Nuclear Disaster would be on everyones lips. Nowadays, were faced with equally disasterful prospects like Nuclear War and terrorism and no one cares.
It's a sad when you have over a hundred people standing outside for an entire two days waiting for the iphone but not one standing outside for an hour protesting the unconstituional patriot act.

So american people were made to this. I've expected that.
A remotion from politics is happening toGreece also with newer generation but here is almost seen as a positive.
For you see older generations (my grandfathers and on) that were mischifing to goverments issues, were protesting for every law that in their smatter mind appeared unti-social at a point that goverment couldnt pratical act.
Our universities are being destroyed every year by captures from undergraduates and yet goverment fears society's "pseudo anti-conservative" mentality to put police sorveliance in universitities.
youre wright cametall but doyou know any forum devoted to discussions of this genre?
Bomb his house?! Not at all but he would easily get a denounce for slanderousdefamation!
And he was a reviewer who could not afford paying just 1 lawyer while CNET groups would have bounches of VIP lawyers.
What did you expected that they would continue with their reviewers after that?
And as from the communitu part, does still today this scandal hasan impact on GS? I mean fewer members , visits etc.
the biggest part of that was the fact that Ryan Davis, Alex Navarro, Brad Shoemaker, Vinnie Caravella, and the game guides guy left afterward. plus Rich Gallop left right before that, so the site had lost most of its personality in a short amount of time.borgmaster
Thats the 2-3 people you were talking?
smellus, once again...
GS got too big and so has a huge impact on the gamers's community so it wouldnt be crazy to believe that its been hired for good-reviews by publishers.
Would it for you?
Except one way i see is that we go into a WW3
wdave92
Is this a joke for you?!
Dont watch many hollywood movies mate.
With all nuclear weapons possesed, if WW3 comes it will be the end of all.
WW3... start praying 1000000000...0 times per day we wont reach that point
[QUOTE="smerlus"][QUOTE="george33387"]did this really started from game arcade ONLY?
Could not sound crazy but when ainstitution or company ( or even goverment) overgrows at the point of gamespot, then loss of morality idealism and rise of corruption is the first thing to be awaited next.
If it was true - and it should be for your explanation cant explain the massive breakout (if he was a bad reviewer he would just have left alone and noone would have followed him)- that he was fired for that then keep in mind that, that was not the only "advertised-payed review but just the one that came in light to become a scandal.
This thing "payed reviews" should have happened for long and for sure its still happening. Becaus a scandal its onlythe showcase to what trully happens behind.

He was an employee of 10 years, I'm sure he made a few friends that were upset with them canning a long time employee without notice. It makes people lose a sense of job security and the people that didn't need this job anymore left afterwards. Again it was only 2-3 people not a mass exodus.
The reason I see that he got fired is probably a long time coming and the K&L review was the last straw.
I dare anyone to read or watch the K&L review and look at the score and see if it matches up with what he says.
To paraphrase the review, Jeff says the AI sucks, characters are dirt bags and unlikable, story sucks, gameplay is broken, guns are weak and he even said no one should buy this game.
Which is ok if that's your opinion but then don't give a game a 6.5 which is a better than average score. Even the guy that reviewed Mercenaries 2 didn't say that many bad things about Mercs 2 and he gave it a 5. Where's the consistency in reviews?
Imagine Ebert saying a movie has a horrible cast, an elementary story, crappy direction on crappy film and no one should watch this movie yet give it 3 stars. It makes no sense and would instantly ruin the credibility of Ebert as a critic.
I thought the same thing when i read the K&L review. He basically trashed the game to pieces and with some sort of "pity" gave it a 6.5. Rediculous..
Really just 2-3?
Maybe...
But GS got too big and so has a huge impact on the gamers's community so it wouldnt be crazy to believe that its been hired for reviews by publisher.
Would it for you?
Eh, dont blame Giantbomb.
I've just visited it. I admit about hte strange rates to some games but have you read their introduciton page? http://www.giantbomb.com/help/
I mean People have a Gaming and Review morality in there!
They rate as Gamers ! Not based to averages (from graphics , gameplay) but to the veral gamer's experience.
They are based to their close group of experienced reviewers (paying the lackness of reviews)
I repeat, the fact that Jeff didnt left alone its a prove that he didnt got fired for anything else but objectivity.
But these who we are! The mass just came back instead of leting GS to die! - I would not consider myself into this mass as I've just came in here for I was studying for the Panhellenc exams since last summer
