@undefined: in my opinion the south is much more racially heterogeneous and races intermingle in a much greater scale than NYC per se.
Southerners are a gentile kind folk who go out of their way to help others, especially in rural communities.
Finally, many stereotypes are false. The south is not backward and plenty kids go on to Ivy League schools and live successful lives. Even the poor can overcome the seemingly impossible barriers to achieving the American dream..
The south is my home and is a wonderful place, but I need a change of scenery so I'm moving to denver
