Apparently you missed my point entirely. I suppose you believe that the moon is made of cheese also? I deal in the realm of technological fact, not wishful thinking. I'm going to win so many bets when this game comes out that I won't have to buy a beer for a month.

PCGH: Can you already say what rig players must have to play the game with all details in resolution of 1280x1024?

Irrational Games: Our recommended spec is as follows:
- CPU: 3GHz dual core processor
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
- Video card: Pixel Shader 3.0 compliant video card with 512 Ram (Geforce 7900 GT or better)

But to run the game at 1280x1024 with all graphics options enabled you really need an NVIDIA 8800 or ATI 2900XT or better.

There you have it. From the devs themselves, the OP has the system requirements. His processor might be a bit short, so he may need to trim back a few things, so I guess I should have said nearly max. The comment is a little misleading, because in the requirements he says a 7900GT, which is worse than the OP's 7950GX2, but then proceeds to say the Geforce 8 seriesand ATI's 2900XT. So , I'm sure that's leaning more towards the higher-end cards.

But nonetheless, he's very capable to play Crysis.

TheCrazed420

1.) There are no official recommended specs for Crysis at this time.

2) Once again, has anyone bothered to watch the videos to understand the level of tech and it's requisite hardware requirements?

3) There is a 0.0% chance of a single current top-end card handling this game at "max" settings. Some of the videos currently available show Crysis being run on a single 8800 GTX and dips into single-digit framerates are clearly noticeable. And before anyone says it, the magical "optimization" is not some golden panacea that is going to raise FPS to acceptable values.

4) Does the phrase "blowing smoke up one's a** " ring a bell? Because that is what is happening when anyone associated with the game makes claims on how current mid-high range hardware will run Crysis just fine at high settings and resolutions, as referred to in your post above. Crytek does not want to scare any potential buyers away and wishes to maintain the current level of hype surrounding the game.

I will say it again, it is entirely understandable how most people hope that they will be able to enjoy Crysis in all it's glory on their current hardware. However, clear precedent (it took 6 months for video cards-the 6800 series Nvidia's-to become available that could truly handle Far Cry) and basis common sense dictate otherwise.

My goodness. Do any of you spend any time actually researching Crysis or peruse any technical forums? If anyone thinks for one single second that they'll be able to "max" out Crysis at 1280x1024 or above on anything less than a 3Ghz+ Core 2 Duo and the NEXT generation of video cards, well, I have a bridge to sell you. I'm fully cognizant of the fact that my current rig is going to have to be given to the wife and an entirely new one built to handle that game.

This game is going to demand every single last ounce of PC horsepower that can be thrown at it. It is going to dynamically scale across as many CPU cores available and the technology being implemented is mind-boggling. For God's sake, current top-end rigs have difficulty running STALKER, Oblivion, Rainbow Six:Vegas and other CURRENT games at high settings and resolutions. Crysis is going to make them look like PONG. I understand the wishful thinking because top-notch hardware costs a lot of money but self-delusion and reality are mutually exclusive.

I would have to say STALKER or Supreme Commander. They are both incredible games but you have to use a pretty powerful rig to truly enjoy them. I'm getting a consistent 30-40 FPS in STALKER with everything maxed out. Now I can wait even longer before I overhaul my rig for Crysis.

Quite simply, the 7900GS doesn't have enough horsepower.

Also, their recommended specs are a bit off, to put it mildly.
