.........June.

Probably one of the best months ever, for gaming. I haven't posted in a while, so I'll keep you guys updated with games I've been playing recently.

Rock Band (X360, PS2, PS3)

This game is far from recent, but I only just bought it. It costs around $159.99 + tax, but it's definitely a great game to buy (especially if you have XBOX Live). The online is flawless. There's a lot to say about Rock Band, but you probably know it all. It's four player, one lead guitarist, one bassist, one vocalist, and one drummer... and you...... just ... play. But yeah, if you can afford it, purchase it, and play the hell out of it.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl (Wii)

OK, so this game probably doesn't deserve all the attention its getting, nor did it deserve all the ratings it got... That doesn't make it a bad game; far from that! It's actually pretty fun, with the huge roster, competitive play (although significantly less from Melee), and its online (which is laggy at some times, but it's fun with friends). Meh, my grammar took a huge slide in that last sentence. Brawl is a nice game to play; got me hooked for quite a long time. If you have a Wii, this is a must-have game. If you're anything like me, you've been neglecting your Wii ever since Mario Galaxy; but this will bring your attention back to it.

Ninja Gaiden Black (XBOX)

If you're a fan of any hack 'n slash... or in fact, a fan of any action game....... get.. this... game.... I never beat this game when I first got it, but decided to play it recently... I don't know why I stopped, because this game is _______ awesome. The story is played out fairly well, although you'll barely care to recognize it while playing the game. The gameplay is where its at. Awesome combos, and everything you do feels fluid and... "epic", should I say.

Also, note to the people who compare Devil May Cry with Ninja Gaiden. I can see how you guys do it. They play fairly similarly, but I like both of these series equally, and I wouldn't put one over the other. You guys have your own opinion, and that's great, but I would personally put both of these series up there, in my top 10.

The World Ends With You (DS)

Hm.... For me, this game was easy to appreciate, but hard to like, if you get what I mean. Creative concepts, unique controls, nice art, and amazing storyline... all bogged down by one thing; repetitive gameplay. Some people might not agree with me, and I respect their opinion. Pins are fun to use, and there are many different pins that a person can pick from, most of which do different things. I loved this game; and then it started to grow old. I respect it for trying something new and engaging; especially the two-screen combat engine; the "Stride Cross Battle System".

My first impression of this game was positive. "The atmosphere is awesome, the environment looks great, I'll love this storyline,... this guy looks like Sora," That's how it turned out, all the way until the end, but like I said, the gameplay is repetitive, and that really hurts the game for me. The music is nice, though. The game has a lot of replay value; tons of bonus misions and "secret reports" that you collect after you beat the game... but if you're anyone like me, you won't have the patience to go back to this game.

Oldschool Games

Ninja Gaiden (NES, WiiVC)

...WHY IS THIS GAME SO HARD? WHY THE _______ IS THIS GAME SO HARD? That said, play it. :D

Ninja Gaiden is a sidescrolling platformer. The player takes control of Ryu Hayabusa, a ninja, and he's damn ready to kick some ass. Give him a sword, and take him to places that require the most precise jumps ever, and top that with powerful bosses... and you have Ninja Gaiden. Have you ever played the new Megamans? Died against the last boss and have to do the Boss Rush again? Sorta sucks, eh? That's what will happen in Ninja Gaiden, but in this game, you'll have to play the whole game over again.

WARNING : BROKEN CONTROLLERS CANNOT BE RETURNED.

Earthbound (SNES)

Probably one of the most underplayed franchises in videogame history. It's hard to describe. It's... a turn-based RPG.... with witty dialog, witty humor, lovable characters, and somehow, amazing gameplay. It's got some sort of charm that will attract you to it; undescribable. But definitely play it; if you've ever enjoyed an RPG, chances are you'll enjoy this one. ...and Nintendo? Where's our Mother 3? :(

Two games I have to talk about...

Devil May Cry 4 and Audiosurf.

Honestly, these games have gotten me hooked for the past week. Can't put them down. I'd recommend them strongly to anyone... ANYONE.

Audiosurf

Audiosurf can be bought on Steam for $9.99. It's a rhythm game; one where you can import your own songs and play them. It's got online leaderboards, and well... words can't do it justice. amd neither can pictures. IGN gave it an 8.5, saying that it was a great game with great value. Seriously..... you guys should really, really get it.

Devil May Cry 4

Devil May Cry 4, ah... one of my favorite games. I was going to post a walkthrough on GS, but I got lazy. It isn't the best DMC game, but it's definitely a solid one. Combos are vast, weapons are great, difficulty is fun and challenging on the harder difficulties. I actually got this game a while back. A long while back. 2 days after release; while back. Oh well, I just never mentioned it. Anyways, I recommend this game to anyone who likes the action game genre... in fact, I recommend it to anyone in general, except.... under 15s.

Be sure to keep a lookout on my reviews; I'll write one for DMC4, Audiosurf, and DMC3 sometime in the near future.

Gamewatch (Recent upcoming games that look VERY good.)
Super Smash Brothers Brawl (March 9th)
Ninja Gaiden - Dragon Sword (March 20th)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles - Ring of Fates (March 11th)
Metal Gear Solid - The Essential Collection + Baroque (March 18th)
Okami (March 25th)
Army of Two (March 4th)
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (March 18th)
Condemned 2 (March 11th)

If you want, leave a comment and mention the games I forgot to mention (note, these are only on the systems I own, Wii, DS, PS2, and Xbox 360).

Anyways, it's time for me to go back to some gaming! Or ... homework. :(

Cheers;

What's with the excessive DMC4 bashing? It's not even out yet!

Starting off, this is all an honest opinion from a person who is NOT a fanboy.

I'd like to start my blog off a quote.

"Personally, I found four of the levels to be a piece of cake, but Dante Must Die mode is much harder in this game than it ever was in DMC3, and will probably result in numerous controllers being shattered in frustration. Seriously, this mode will kick you when you're down and laugh at you mercilessly. The fact that there is another level beyond it that is much harder just mystifies me, and it will take incredible skill and possibly superhuman reflexes to beat it."

-- IGN's Devil May Cry 4 review. (Of which you can find here).

Now... please.. can everyone just stop talking about how the demo was too easy? Devil May Cry has never... EVER (with the exclusion of the 2nd game in the series) been an easy game, and it has always beenthere to mock you when you die, with a blood red screen and a menu with two options. Especially Devil May Cry 3... Normal mode.... grrr....... Yellow mode.... grr..... I'm trying to make a point here, Devil May Cry 4 is definitely a hard game. You'd know if you've played Devil May Cry 3.

Like I said, Devil May Cry has never been a repetitive game in terms of combat. I see lots of people on the GS forums ('specially on the 360 side) saying that Devil May Cry 4 was repetitive. First of all, I can call any game repetitive if I don't try to find depth. I can play Mario Galaxy and say it's repetitive because you attack the same way everytime. I can say Ninja Gaiden sucks because you have to dodge and block all the time. My point is, they're all GREAT GAMES if you actually play them. I don't think you can say that Devil May Cry 4 is depthless, especially if you use the same combo over and over again. You won't be able to beat one of the difficulty levels. Know why? You need to get an "A" rank if you want to clear a level and move on to the next one. I reckon that would be pretty hard if you didn't raise your styl'emeter. I'd like to see you go through Devil May Cry or Devil May Cry 3 using the same combo over and over again. Can't do it? Tough. Another thing I almost forgot to mention the exceed system in Devil May Cry 4. I love it, especially Instant Revving. It makes combos so much more rewarding and cinematic.

Please guys, you CAN block in Devil May Cry. It might not be the same kind of block in Ninja Gaiden (the really, really, awesome, cinematic dodging and blocking), but blocking in Devil May Cry 3's Royalguard is a strategical type of block that you can use to unleash bounds of power and damage. Here's a video : click! Please don't say you can't block, you'll just make yourself sound ignorant to the people who HAVE played Devil May Cry.

Lastly, I would like to say that I AM NOT A FANBOY. I just really hate seeing a good series and a review-wise solid game, friendly towards newcomers, yet hardcore enough to keep the old-comers entertained get bashed because of a demo. I mentioned Mario Galaxy because it's one of those games that are very, very creative, and very, very fun, but has its weak points (normal combat and bosses). I mentioned Ninja Gaiden because Devil May Cry is frequently compared to this game. I don't know why, and I don't think I'll ever know why. Ninja Gaiden is more or less dodging, blocking, and countering when you have the time, and Devil May Cry is more like balls-on action.

I'd like to refer to my first quote again, and I'd like to use all the Devil May Cry 4 reviews thus far as reference. Devil May Cry 4 is a game with tons of variation, and sometimes, I'd think that the game is a bit TOO hard. I have to say, the camera is pretty outdated in this game. That's not a huge complaint from me, though, considering that the original RE made me dizzy to no end. I actually stopped playing it because I almost threw up. Anyways, rent it, or buy it, just give it a chance before you bash it some more.

Truth is, I will definitely get this game.

Guess it can't be helped...

Can't believe it's come to this; not visiting Gamespot at all tomorrow. Well, I guess it can't be helped. CNET made a dick move, and I guess nothing really can be done about this.

Reviewed Fable... Check it out.

I wrote a review for Fable: The Lost Chapters for PC. Check it out over here...
