I've been surviving off the 20gb HDD my original 360 came with three years ago, but even keeping the files lean I'm down to 1 gig and there's a lot of DLC coming, so I gotta upgrade.

What's killing me is that the 250gb HDD got released in Japan on March 11th supposedly, but there's no plans to release it over here in the States. I trust that statement from MS as far as I can throw the whole company, but I'm not going to be able to wait for a new HDD.

So - what do we think the most cost-effective plan is? MS sells the 120gb with the transfer kit for $130 off their site, not including the shipping. There's got to be a way to beat that price on a new 120gig HDD in the package.

Anyone upgrade recently and have any advice? Thanks in advance.

Mass Effect, here's why:

1) Whichever game you get, I think it should be a 360 exclusive. COD4 is also on PC, and might be better on PC depending on your rig.

2) COD4 is just another FPS, albiet a very good FPS. Mass Effect bears more of a resemblance to KOTOR than KOTOR II, and it isn't a perfect RPG, but personally I get fewer RPG games than FPS games so there's more of an appeal for an RPG for me. Same deal with The Orange Box. It's a lot of FPS for $60, but it's still just FPS (with the exception of Portal, which is only a few hours long, I heard).

3) I've got Rock Band, and it is really only a lot of fun with at least three people. Playing the guitar part solo is the same as GH II or GH III, pretty much, save the "boss battles" in GH III (which I don't have much interest in, which is why I skipped it already having GH II).

4) So far, I have like 45 hours' worth of play into Mass Effect. I think I am just about at the ending. If you do all the side quests, and are being careful with your inventory to make sure your squad has the best of the best and you sell the rest, you should get at least 40 hours out of it, which for me has been like two weeks of playing it pretty consistently. COD4 has like a five hour campaign, and Halo 3 will last you two or three days on Legendary, but no more.

Single-player experience is important to me, even in games with strong multiplayer facets.
