Good morning everyone, I decided to write about the importance of TV calibration for your gaming console or PC; it doesn't matter which one you own, this applies to ALL of them. I was looking to buy a new 4k TV because my current TV was not looking up to par, even when I thought I had adjusted my TV accordingly, going as far as looking up what the optimal settings would be for my TV, but it seemed like I never got the results I was looking for.

Earlier this week, I was going through the settings on my Xbox Series X, and I took a hard look at the Calibration settings. I said, "well let's try it with the Xbox TV calibrator". I followed the onscreen instructions, and it took some time. I'd say I spent anywhere from 20-40 minutes getting the calibration correct. Anyhow, for the time I took to get it right, the rewards were well worth it. In addition, it most likely saved me from spending money on something I didn't need. Also, I feel like I'm playing on a whole new console; it's a refreshing feeling!

I am not too worried about what people may think, however I know for a fact that most gamers never calibrate their TV with the calibrator instructions provided by the console, hey I sure never did. But, as a strong suggestion to everyone reading this post, if you are having issues with your TV or monitor, look into the calibration menu to help yourself adjust your TV settings. I promise that you won't regret it, but be prepared to spend some time on it and have a bit of patience.

@BassMan: Yeah, a combination of trading and real estate appraising.

I have a toss up between Batman Arkham Night and GTAV, both on PC. It's just unreal what the PC can do these days.

@GTR12: It's not a performance issue. It's a brand/quality issue. In the last 15 years, AMD has typically functioned better with Windows than the competition (NVIDIA/Intel (pre collaboration)). Remember, "function" is being used as in "consistent working order", NOT as in "performance data". I have no experience with Linux, so the comparison may be different on that OS. Also I'm assuming the potential buyer will be purchasing a Windows based PC.

@GTR12: You must not have read the whole post. It's written based on the experience with compatibility, not stating whether the CPU has drivers or not. I didn't write it to start an arguement.

From my experience, you can't go wrong with either, but if it comes down to $$$ (which typically does so) AMD no question. Furthermore AMD has better stability with Windows than the competition. I am currently running on an MSI Vortex w/ 2 X 1070 GTX and all I get are driver issues with the GPUs. I understand that it's not the CPU, but understand that AMD has typically pushed much more stable driver releases than the competition. I've always used the Intel/NVIDIA combo, but I've realized that with my latest purchase that the next desktop I purchase will be AMD based on both CPU and GPU.

This is a dope thread! Yeah, certainly would have to agree with the 16-bit era, the SNES being the most impressive. Although we had Turbo Grafix 16 and Neo Geo consoles which were far superior to the SNES on paper. However, nothing could match the 6 button layout on the SNES (I still argue that the SNES was built with Street Fighter 2 in mind), and at the price point games such as MK3 looked marginally inferior to the copy on the PS1 at the time. Furthermore, the replay value on the SNES far exceeds any other console generation.
