Hi, I have had this problem and just solved it. (Smug mode) I tried everything that was suggested but nothing worked. I then got cross and started pressing the cable in hard. When pressure downwards was applied on the back of the plug I got a green light. This meant that the gold connectors were forced up. To wedge the plug in I took apart a common or garden clothes peg. The first half I placed horizontally above the plug, leaving a slight gap. Then I slotted in the other half of the peg so that its wedge shape forced down the back of the plug. I have the old fat PS 3 and there is a handy ridge above the plug. It is now working. I have a much faster connection now. BBC i player works without buffering. If this works for you please send vast amounts of cash. Watch out for my next fix it - How to increase your hard drive capacity with an old baked bean tin. PS. The peg was the type with a spring in two pieces of plastic (Wood in old days)
