Lack of thought

Haven't had the time to peruse the forum or put anythign in my journal. Since Halo 2 came out I haven't had much else to do besides work , sleep and halo. Now that Half-life is out I don't know what to do with myself, I played it for either hours straight today. What's wrong with me!

Cheers;)

Uncle Argyle

Well I guess you know what this is all about. The reviews of Halo 2 were unleashed upon the world today, and I have got to say that I am feeling a little disapointed. I guess I wanted more, that what GS gave the game, yet realistically, this had to happen. This is what happens when the hype machine gets put on overdrive, people get confused and are left with that sinking feeling in the pit of their stomachs. I am not that worried though, as a fan of the Halo Universe I am confident that Bungie did the game justice for the story line. I really want to say that the GS score that was given was harsh, yet I haven't played the game, so what do I know...right? We'll see.

Rented Killzone over the weekend, as well as X-men Legends. I never really got to play the latter, however I played Killzone quite a bit and have a lot to say about it. Mainly that the development of the cinematic elements overshadowed the games core gameplay, which by today's standards was just unacceptable. I will probably post a lengthly review on it in the near future and go into gross detail. But I what I do have to say is that Brain Cox rules, it's just to bad his voice talent wasn't able to save the game. Aww well...

15 Levels of Halo

Looks like there are only 6 more days to go till we all get our hands on potential the biggest game of the year, if not ever. I don't think I have ever seen so much hype for a game, nor bought into it so heavily. I update myself on the ilovebees.com content almost everyday. I am a devout follower of it's plot line. I have read the books, gotten the soundtrack...the list goes on. Now even the reviews say that the game is amazing.

I was talking to my buddy the other day, a guy whom I talk avidly about Halo 2 too. He and I are both fans of ILB and almost everyday we share some new content we have found on the web. One of the biggest things we found was the number of single player campaign levels there are. The Original Halo counted only ten levels, and they were really really long, albiet repetitive (which may have added to that). However when I found out that there were 15 levels in the Halo 2 single player campaign I jumped for joy. The most fun I ever had in a game was playing the single player campaign with my buddy. When I told him of the 15 level oddessy (not to mention size of the levels have also been quoted as being quite large) he hit the roof. Next week can't come fast enough.

Just finished beating Chronnicles of Riddick again. That game is really fun. But the 2nd time through it seems really short. I clocked in at about 6 hours worth of gameplay. Granted I don't think I did any side quests. One of the biggest problems I have with that game is the huge amount of clipping errors during the cut scenes. It really ruins the mood when you have beautiful in-game cinema, but when you get to the interstitials, they are all choppy and zoomed-in. Either way, good games are still good games.

Dawn of War Review

I finally got down to writing this puppy. Here it is:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/wh40kdawnofwar/reader_review.html?id=2385704

When I write a review I like to put some effort into it, and as I have said in the past I don't pretend to be good at it. It's just a practice thing I guess. This one is the longest so far that I have written. To be honest I love this game, I can't stop playing it, and I am always thinking up new ideas for a custom army. When I can finally post html I will put up the Banners and Badges that I have created over the time that I have been playing it. Enjoy!

Cheers;)

Sweet melody

Just got my hands on the Xenogears Soundtrack finally. I have been waiting for that thing for a while. It's ridiculously good for classic game music for PS1. So, So Good. I have heard crieds is good, but I have yet to get that. Yasunori Mitsuda is the composer for those interested. He also did Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.

It's really hard to get good Xenogears material now. The most I have is the strategy guide which has really minimal art. I really want the Perfect Works (which is all in japanese but whatever).

There was a review that was posted earlier regarding Xenosaga Episode 2 and how bad it was. I really hope this isn't the case. This game cannot die. There is so much potential in this universe that having it tank after the 2nd installment would be horrific.

You will also notice I have a new icon. A different ID, and a bigger one at that.

The Rockies

Just got back from a road trip to Calgary. Beautiful Roadtrip which took about 10-12 hours each way from Vancouver. It was definatly a lot of fun. We took my Xbox and played some sweet 2 on 2 over there at the U of C. We left on the thursday morning at 1 am and drove till noon. Then we drank our faces off until 4 am. I was up for a total of 38 hours. It was great.

I took advantage of the lack of sales tax in Alberta. So I bought Kingdom Under Fire. Haven't had a real chance to get into it yet, but it seems like a lot of fun so far. But I will most likely put a review of it up soon. In the meantime I have to do one of Dawn of War. I will get to that soon enough.

Cheers;)

Break of Dawn

Wow the amount of 'pun-age' I am getting from W40k: Dawn of War is amazing. This morning I woke up really really early for no reason whatsoever. I was unable to get back to sleep so I stayed up for 2 hours and squeezed in about 3 or 4 rounds of DOW. They last about 25-35 mins each so you can get in a couple in no time. That game is really turning out to be a good buy for me. I thought the multi-player was going to be a bit of a flop with the limited variation in strategy. But it looks like it is addictive enough for me to stay. I have got to say though that I prefer the bigger battles, because it lends itself more to team strategy rather than 1 on 1 'who can rush the fasted' matches. I am going to be posting a review soon of it, so I will get into detail about that soon.

One of my favorite thing about the game is the custom banners and badges option. Add the Army painter and you have an outlet to really make a totally unique army. I have seen UN knock offs, Nazi's, and canadian troops. That really brings more of what is fun about the actual table top game. I made a UNSC army using the logo from Halo. As you can now tell, the Halo 2 fever is in full effect.

Gotta get to work now.

Cheers;)

I will give thanks.

So that webcam shot of the Halo 2 disc was pretty exciting. I can only imagine what that might have been like to have the copies in the office. When I do print work for clients of mine one of the most exciting things is at the end when all or a few boxes arrive and you get to tear them open and look at the work you have created over the past grueling months/weeks/days before anyone else does so you can truly enjoy it. Not only that but you get to critisize it as well before anyone else does to a extreme degree. So it must be pretty exciting for them

As for us we have a month to go. Not that that is of ANY news to anyone. But I am pretty exciting. I bet you more people will be starting the count down this saturday (October 9th) than eating turkey with the family (it is thanksgiving in Canada...eh).

For now I am just content entertaining myself with the Audio files being posted up on www.ilovebees.com. They are getting better and better each week. I might read through the Halo books again before the launch. Or play through the game one last wonderful time before there is a new one to last me for the next couple years.

Cheers;)

P.S: There are some stores hear that are offering 30 dollars off Halo 2 for anyone who trades in the original Halo. Who would perform such an act of herecy?

Dawn of Woe

So I snapped....I am a weak weak person.

I bought Dawn of War.

I don't have time for that S#$t!

I sold both Gladius and Parrapa the Rappa (oh no!)

I was attempting to sell Mechcommander and Ground Control. However I was told that they were both too old. That or she was trying to save me from giving away to kick a$$ games before I knew what I was doing. Thank god I didnt sell them. Sill I don't know when I am going to play them again. Ground Control was alright, but Mech commander. I mean for all those pups out there who don't know what I am talking about, this game was awsome. The detail in the graphics where great. Since most of the terrain was pre-rendered animations they all looked pretty slick. Hmm, maybe I should play it again.

Cheers;)

Wow

November is now officially less than a month away. And with the mighty declaration that Halo 2 is done, I am starting to believe now that the money I put down for Halo in Advance will actually be getting me a game soon. A game that up until this point only existed in our minds as this wonderful peice of gaming heaven that only gods could fashion.

I just hope we haven't built it up to much...

Cheers;)
