The whole point of Nintendo making the DSi was to counteract the sheer amount of R4s and other related piracy devices slipping under the radar. The DSi has an SD card slot, but it is there mainly so that people can store audio (in the form of .AAC files, which nobody uses), pictures (from the onboard cameras as well), and applications from the DSi Shop. However, the design of the DSi is made to prevent the use of flash carts such as the R4, with Nintendo going so far as to region lock DSi-exclusive games (though, I have heard that the DSi's firmware has been cracked already), and removing the GBA slot. Basically, the DSi is supposed to stop people from stealing games over the internet, so there's no R4 included with it. How successful will it be? Only time can tell.
