If his parents don't mind, and he's mature enough,then go ahead. I played RE4 when i was 12, it was my first M game, butit was one of my best game experiences ever. It also depends on how many violent games he's been exposed too, and also if he's a fan of the genre.
I believe Super Mario Galaxy will dethrone RE4, but not by much - maybe a 9.3 or 9.4 and on this site, I can honestly say that SSBB will score lower than SSBM...again, not by much...maybe an 8.6 ...but the game will still be badass ...and if Mario Kart does better than the DS version....that will score high as wellZumaJones07
The only problem im having playing my wii is very minor. Sometimes the image is somewhat grainy or blurry if thats the word to describe it. I notice this especially on samus' arm cannon in MP3.
