@asnakeneverdies: Fixed camera has it's plus sides, no doubt about it. Looks incredible, can make things tense as f@ck, but perhaps biggest of all; it makes the environments more memorable. We'll never forget those old Resi environments because of how deliberately they were framed, to evoke the sense of scale of the environment, or present locales with a genuine cinematic flair.
However, from a purely mechanical, gameplay standpoint, I think being able to aim your gun can only be a good thing, and I'll have to disagree that being able to aim stops it from being survival horror. I think it could, could (after all we don't know everything about gameplay yet) be the best of both worlds from Resident Evil's oddly schizophrenic history.
@rglgathrawn: RE7 is a good game for sure, and better than 4-6, but it felt a bit too like Resident Evil "Lite" to me. Very small, and later on heavily scripted and linear. The main house was the best part of the game.
