I have nothing against women at all, and I know about their significant and under-represented involvement in WWII, I welcome their stories being told. However, the slightly over the top vibe in their approach to inclusivity I got from the reveal sort of reminds me, a little bit, of one of Sam Rockwell's lines in Seven Psychopaths:
"Hey new idea how 'bout we change the title from The Seven Psychopaths to The Seven Lesbians Who Are All Disabled And Have Overcome All Their Spazzy Shit And Are Really Nice to Everybody And Two of Them Are Black. How 'bout that?"
I also feel that a story based on real, tragic events, should at least make an effort to stay grounded and depict a believable yet thriling scenario, even if not 100% accurate, in order to remain respectable, which used to be the whole idea behind war games in the first place, but the focus on multiplayer makes a mockery of all that anyway, where EA/Dice make more money from said tragic events through "cosmetics" and "Live Services" (eugh). Say whatever pr bullshit they want, because I can see straight through it.
Still going with that blue-orange late 2000s action movie colour scheme in the marketing promos I see. An accurate representation of the bro-tastic game content itself, I suppose.
Well, of course it is, it's been out 5 years. The PS2 was a phenomenal seller, and well supported for an unusually long time, it was the exception, not the rule though.
However, there are still many, many PS4 games I am interested in that I am yet to play. To their credit, the PS4 has also been very well supported, and has served people like me very well, who like single-player games - especially in this worrying age primarily dominated by games as a service and "free" to play stuff.
I'm never one to be in a rush for new hardware though, I didn't buy a Pro or X1X, just stuck with the vanilla "OG" model. That, and my pc of course - GOG is just awesome.
@videogameninja: Agreed. I Applaud them for trying, though I have my doubts on how easy it will be on the creation side. The more extensive the functionality becomes, the bigger the learning curve. I'll put this in the "cautiously optimistic" pile until we find out more.
Hmm this game seems like a real chore to play, not to mention buggy. Having said that, it seems a bit harsh for a motion blur setting to be one of the main points for "The Bad" section. If that's how the devs wanted it to look, then that's how it looks. Configurable post effects should, in my opinion, be a bonus, a luxury, rather than the norm. PC games have had that luxury for years though, so I can understand how a pc player would now expect it.
