Wii Day

Ok, yesterday I had a wii day with the kids first up was Mario Smash Football. It's not badd not sure I like the megastrike idea you can win/lose a game on one megastrike - wonder if there is an option to turn this off ? Probably not but overall it's ok i've downgradred my rating on this to a 6 for the moment, it needs more play.

Next we went back to wii sports - the beauty of this game game is that it does not matter if you are 5, 10 or 30 years old everyone is on a level playing field. Bowling is the normal choice when playing wii sports and the result was a 6 year old came first followed by a 5 year old. 25+ years of gaming experience and I get beaten by a 6 & 5 year old ? Go figure?

After a break for the Formula 1 Qualification it was a toss up between Big Brain Academy or Mario Party 8.

Mario Party 8 won - this is only the 3rd time we have played this game after playing the Donkey Kong and the Monopoly like level (I forget the characters name) it was big boo's level. This is a hide & seek level - you have to find boo to get the star. Normally we only play for 15 turns because with 4 players trust me it takes a long time but foolishly I agreed to 20 turns. It's a good design for the level set in a haunted castle hunting for boo, we also had our first duel fight which had us in light planes navigating through holes, all nice and simple fun but 20 turns just takes to long 15 is more than enough. I read all the bad reviews this game gets but as a family we love it - we were bored of the older versions and the different designs in the boards from monopoly to hide/seek is a nice change. We got the cards and went shopping to buy an extra game - have not really played the extra mode at all but will try this out next week.

Much to the kids disappointment that was it because it was nearly time to watch the Rugby Final

Tomorrow is DS/PSP day for the kids and hopefully for me some time to finish off Far Cry
