I had the original version of Fallout 3 a while ago and I stopped playing after a few days. Admittedly, I started a quest that was too much for my character, and I gave up. With the complete edition of Fallout 3 receiving a price drop and Fallout: New Vegas out, I really want to give Fallout another shot. I hope that my opinion will change just as yours did. If only I could find my copy of Fallout 3 to try again.

Yeah I went wrong with Fallout 3 the same way I think. This time I've really taken time getting armour and being careful and the whole experience is different. That said I found Vegas much quicker and easier to get into..

I tried playing Fallout 3 recently and couldn't get into it at all. The start was too slow and somehow I just didn't 'get' it. I traded it in after about 2 hours play.

Anyway I decided to have another crack so I picked up Fallout: New Vegas cheap and guess what? I absolutely love it. The start is better (for me) and now its eating up my life. I am levelling up and finding stuff and new places and having a great time. Weird really.

Anyone else had a moment of revelation like this with this game or any other? Also I know other people didn't get on with Fallout 3 so I would urge them to have a look at New Vegas.

Interesting thread. I have to say I was soooooo disappointed with GTA IV just never got going for me. Fallout 3 was a strangely unenjoyable experience. The main figure kind of moonwalked around the landscape and frankly I found it extremely boring. Bioshock. Fantastic in terms of atmosphere but it got boring very quickly. Having not had a 360 long I would say the games I've enjoyed/played most are Gears of War and Fable II so the hate here is a suprise!

I had this for a bit and found it a right laugh for a couple of hours. To be honest though I never felt the urge to play it through to the end.

I hear you, and I wouldn't denigrate the technical achievement but I just didn't feel excited about it like with (particularly) Vice City and San Andreas. I can only really put it down to familiarity. Mind you, I don't think I ever recovered from the first 'mission'. Take some woman bowling lol. Funny thing is I never contacted her again after that until she turned up in the story later on!

I hope when it does come that they innovate a bit more. I dunno, as I said in another thread I am new to the 360 and GTA !V was one of the first games I got. I was about 20% through it when I realised I wasn't actually enjoying it that much. Great game if you've never played a GTA but kind of repetitve and samey if you have IMO. I'd like to see a more free flowing mission structure like Fable or something. Do you know what I mean or am I talking c*ap!?

I'm an (ahem) older gamer and I'm new to the xbox360 and this site, I felt compelled to comment on this thread in partial support of the original poster. I found the Vault section of Fallout 3 eyewateringly dull but persevered because as many of you have said its ridiculous not to give a game a decent go. To be honest though I didn't enjoy it once I got outside either. I appreciate maybe it needs a good few hours of playing time to really get into it but I'm playing Fable II at the mo which is similarly involving but grabs you alot quicker. Off topic, the guy who said Dead Space is brilliant is right, anyone not persevering with that really does have no patience because it gets going pretty quickly. Hello everyone BTW!
