@Jimzeel Spot on. The way people handle their anonymity on the Internet sucks. Give someone the ability to say nasty things without repercussions and an unfortunate amount will abuse that.
People get way too caught up in this, calling out companies for being greedy. Caveat to all this: I played Dead Space and I LOVED it. It was great. Loved the atmosphere, the weapons, and the premise. I didn't buy DS2 because I had reservations about it's direction. But the bottom line is that these guys are in the industry because they enjoying making video games and they want to make money doing it. Broadening the fan base is the easiest way to do it. Note I didn't say best, worst, or only way, it's just the easiest. Getting more people to play the game you worked hard to make. If you don't like it, don't buy it but don't call them greedy because no one is making you give them your money.
@TJSpyke @predailen @Majkic666 please explain to me why EA is a good company. If you mean good as in making money yes they are but otherwise it's extremely debatable.
@buffaloblitz85 Plays were criticized for going against the societal norm. The Senate in Rome did not want a permanent stage for plays because they feared the influence of Greek culture and its popularity. Some Operas in the 17th and 18th were thought to encourage crime. People fear any new type of media, especially ones that become very popular.
@Innocent_baby Since the end of WWII it has been and a simple survey of history is all you need to look at. Slavery? For the most part abolished. Wide scale war? It's now a localized event. Large portions of the world are now more peaceful then ever with ways to scale back violence through discussion. He never said the world ceased to be violent but as a whole, the world is substantially less violent than even 100 years ago.
