The Demons hung on to win a thriller at the MCG today when they defeated the Kangaroos by 4 points, 13.12 (90) to 12.14 (86), much to the dismay of Kangaroos supporters (including myself). In a low-scoring game, the Roos saw the best and worst of their team in the final quarter, and a 2 goal lead midway through the term looked to shut out the tired Demons. Aaron Davey starred for the winners with a two-goal final quarter to give his team the lead twice. At the other end, Nathan Thompson shined for the Roos, wrestling back the lead twice and taking a contender for Mark of the Year, before missing and then unbelievably leaving the ground in the dying minutes. The Roos had one more chance through Harris, who had a shocker, to take back the lead, but a kick off the side of the boot which would have made its way to Wells and a certain winning goal destroyed any hope the North Melbourne fans had of their team winning the four points. And so 4 weeks in a row, the Roos have lost and are on the bottom of the ladder (after round 5) for the first time since 1962.
