depending on what type of character you are join a guild. I began with the dark brotherhood because it is a relatively easy way to get enchanted weapons. Also if you get far enough in you get the fastest horse in the game (which is also invincible). Now if your not a stealthy character then i would recommend joining the thieves guild. I know it sounds retarded and paradoxical but if you get caught and gain bounty you can pay it off for half price with the thieves guild. Then i would join the mages guild. This is definitely the hardest guild to advance through in the beginning. You need a recommendation from each of the mages guild leaders in each city. Do this and as you do it either get your novice mage skills to apprentice or if they are apprentice try get them to journeyman. Also after that join the arena just for $h!t$ and giggles. Dont join the fighters guild all they do is tie master knots, sit on chairs, and love lighthouses and what not.lol
