Arg... I have to rant a bit on this noise.
These are the bits I love:
"We're pleased to announce thatStar Wars: The Old Republic is available now for pre-order,while supplies last."
Really? While supplies last? Oh, are they going to run out?
"Our focus is on not only delivering a high quality game, but also in developing a thriving online environment. In order to ensure a great user experience we have decided to limit initial launch supply."
Ohhh, they ARE going to run out. Hmm... Sounds like a clever way to get people to buy your game before they find out whether they like it or not. Champions Online did this in the form of their "Lifetime Memberships" at $200 bucks a pop, and it scored them a fat load of sucker sales (that game is now free btw; sorry lifetimers... that's gotta hurt). Now, I'm not saying SWTOR is gonna suck at all, mind you (Hell, I will likely be pre-ordering too)... I've just grown very wary of these tactics. They're as old as the whole Cabbage Patch Doll marketing trick, and just as underhanded.
Limited preorder launch supply 6 MONTHS before release?? And the collector's edition is $150!?
It's **** like this, EA... ಠ_ಠ
