@davillain: It's not entirely his fault. Avi Arad, the film's producer decided during production that the film needs to be PG-13 to get a larger audience. This was already after multiple R rated scene...

Ugh. This movie was NEVER gonna be good, but an R rating might have made this somewhat palatable. Instead, they give us completely bloodless shootouts, bootleg Guardians of the Galaxy vibes...
