Linksys was what I would go with, I'm just going to buy a G one since it's cheaper. Nice tip about changing its frequency.

I plan to play extremely casually, as I have to focus on school ;) Probably a little WoW and some other games, not any of the super demanding new games (other than maybe Call of duty 4).

As for the whole wireless thing, I plan to hook it up for online use using a router which I'll purchase, because I have this computer as well. I'll go wireless for the laptop of course. In the past I remembered having problems with my wireless keyboard on my main computer (stuff like it not working well if I'm using the wifi). My phone operates on 2.4ghz as well. Are these things I should worry about, or is there anything I can do to help with it? Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a laptop and I'm not 100% sure on everything about them. Its going to be mainly for school and such, but I want to it to run games decently. Theres a couple I noticed, both with geforce 8600m cards. One was an Acer (which I was informed by my friendly neighborhood futureshop associate that would break if I moved it due to being so poorly made, and heating to the point of catching fire or death.)

The other was a HP DV9644, he mentioned that this one was much nicer, had a 17 inch screen and a few other nice things.

The only real difference between the two is that the HP is 200 dollars cheaper, has a larger screen, and doesn't break. I plan to add a Product Service Plan (3 year warranty = 300 dollars). Is the Acer actually that bad? and should I forgot casual gaming altogether on a laptop due to heat and power usage? I know the larger screen sucks more power, and that it has an 8 cell lithium.

I'd appreciate feedback from all of you. Thanks.

By the way, i have a fan in the side of my case, and one in the back. I also have a sound card (audigy 4) and 6.1 speakers. i have had to unplug my speakers because when my case starts to tick, i get a pop at the same time from the speakers, and i dont wish to end up breaking them too. When i switched video cards i had the computer blown out (compressed air shot through it by comp. professionals). Should i have that done again and see if this fixes?

Hey all, i have 1.25 gigs of ram, used to have an ati all-in-wonder 9800 pro (agp), i have a socket 478 p4 2.8ghz processor, 180 gig hard drive, i have an nvidia 7600gt (agp) now.

About 2 and a half months ago i noticed a ticking noise coming from my computer, and i tried to narrow it down and i suspected it was my video card. I arranged to have the card replaced and when i removed it from my case i noticed one of the fan blades had actually broken off. I recieved the 7600gt as a replacement and when i put it in my WorldofWarcraft Frames per second went from 15 to 30 immediatly (i play on 1200/1024). It all worked great until last week when the ticking noise came back and my frames are down to 5-15 again. When i hit ctrlaltdelete and check the performance my cpu is at 100% when WoW is minimized. I have a lot of ram so im figuring, why is it struggling to run WoW? and, could the ticking noise be from the cpu fan, which would then not spin properly, heating up the cpu, and making it struggle? I would greatly appriciate some help with this. thanks.
