I have to agree with Gary_Jinfield. The three Zelda titles released on the ill-fated Sony CD-I system were by far the worst. Not only were they released on a sub-standard system, the system itself had no press, the games had no press, in looking at screen shots the graphics were appalling, in reading overviews the story lines were far too outlandish and out of character, and the whole series just seemed too rushed to get titles on a new shot in the dark system. Their very existence is proof positive of marketing at its worst and represents a very dark period in Link's history. On the other hand, look at the titles that made the Zelda series great: the original LOZ, Link to the Past, and OOT. These are my picks for the best. In retrospect, the original left you wanting more but, on the system of the time, it was as near perfection as one could get. Link to the Past has arguably the highest replay and resale value of any game ever released on any system ever. It is a collector's item that is worth more now than it was when it was first released and, I don't know about any one else, but I played my copy last night. It's a perennial favorite that has withstood the test of time. And OOT is perhaps the most anticipated release of all time. It was the newest title of an old favorite released on a system that represented the pinnacle of graphics for the time and introduced a game-play system that revolutionized the genre and has been used as a standardized tried and true basis for countless other games. Not to mention the fact that it extended the story line and filled in a lot of empty gaps in the history of Hyrule. A little long winded, I know, but I feel I have made my point. Ta.
