I doubt a sequel will happen. Regardless of all the fans' opinions on the Mario Kart series, Nintendo is just looking at the sales. Since casual games make a lot more money than hardcore games ( let's face it, that's the truth), they will probably make another casual racer in the future. Double Dash was an okay game in my opinion, but certainly not worthy of a sequel. I know a lot of you people will strongly disagree, but Nintendo IS becoming the casual company. Anything that makes money is worth their time, but anything else, even if it's the best game in the world, will not get a sequel if it doesn't sell well. Even third party games need money to make a sequel, not just the money-making Nintendo company.
