SEQUELS
I have no friken idea how to write a blog. To tell the truth i cant even figure out how the hell to post comment on someone elses blog.... for now
anywho where to start sooooo many things i wants to talk about ... EUREKA! ive got it ill go on a rant.
Lets start with my opinion on modern sequel games especially targeting RPG sequels. It seems to me as if game developers are jacking up graphics, I guess too make them seem next gen enough to catch the eye of gamers, its kind of a "oooohh shiney object effect". But when u get down to the meat of the game the story, gameplay, and over all enjoyment it seems a little i dont know ....LACKING! Just so i dont sound like an A hole spewing meaningless, baseless opinions all over your computer screen ill give u a couple examples.
First off on our list FINAL FANTASY VII CRISES CORE yep ima goin there. Let me be the first to say I LOVE FFVII in my opinion it is the single most brilliant idea Square Enix (Square Soft at that time) ever came up with or ever will for that matter. This sequal is the type that they plan on making a killing on realese date. fans are pissing themselves over exitment not knowing what there about to play is absolutly nothing, and i mean nothing like the game they grew up to love. The main element in the original ffVII that I found so appealing was the battle system; crises core however decided to make a few modifications, and when i say a few i mean completly rape the old battle system, throw it away and replace it with slot machines... I $hit u not slot machines. In my years of experience as a gamer ive found that i dont particularly like luck based games ... AT ALL! Especially when its a sequal to a strategic game. My overall thoughts of Crises core is that it is a **** stain upon ffVIIs underwear
Next game hate me if u must FABLE II. This game brought hardly anything new to the table exept guns, condoms, and a dog whom by the way tends to annoy the piss out of me at times. The ammount of individualism each player was able to express in the first fable seems to be nonexistent in the 2nd. Reason being they didnt add more spells or modifications THEY TOOK THEM AWAY. Over half the spells are gone. Graphics werent even spectacular. Its only chance at redemption would be the anticipated live play. Unfortionatly camera angles in said live play were crap plus it didnt allow you to use your hero it made you be a lacky. I would rather play the first fable any day
And then there are te games where its almost perfect or damn close, but there is just one little thing from the old game they took out. for instance the over world map taken out of TALES OF SYMPHONIA DOTNW It took the feeling of exploration and mystery away a little, needless to say it is still a rock solid game and a 5/5 in my book, it was just a little dissapointing to find no over world. Another example of that is the side quests in LOZ TWILIGHT PRINCESS or should i say the lack there of.
All im tryin to say is that game developers need to look at there old successfull games and ask themselves would made this game successfull, and what would the gamer miss if i were to change its formula. A good example of this is LOZ MAJORAS MASK the perfect sequel yet there was no need to do a major change in the graphics they were just touched up to make the game a little crisper. The fighting style was also the same like i said they just touched up on all the old mechanics and added a little twist to the game. The twist being the whole time manegment concept.
Well i could talk about this all day but my hotpockets are done and i have the shadow temple left to beat on my ocarina of time playthrough (im playing through all the LOZ series to cellebrate the anniversery)
WELL HAPPY NEW YEARS TO YOU GUYS!!! and feel free to leave your veiwpoint on my opinion, both good and bad. Dont worry im a big boy i can take it
