This picture helps me put into perspective that too much of anything, is just bad for you.

Today is....

....my last day with CNET Networks. As I prepare to vacate my post at GameSpot and GameFAQs, I want to tell you what a great pleasure and honor it has been to work alongside some of the finest people I have ever met.
I fondly reflect back on our first online tournament and the subsequent creation of Tournament TV, in late 2005. By early 2006, we re launched our paid subscription service to great success and have grown our subscription file at a steady pace ever since. We introduced story commenting across the board (preview, features, news, OTS, Podcast, TTV etc.). We created a brand new live video player (the uber pop) that incorporates several cool interactive user features (feedback, trivia and chat) and used it in content and programming pieces like Boss of Bosses, TTV, OTS etc. Beyond the product enhancements - the news, editorial and broadband/live teams outdone themselves (again and again and again) in 2006. We had exceptional live HD coverage from GDC, E3, TGS, After Hours and the mired of publisher and industry events. Not to mention the fact that we still had to cover 1000’s of games with screenshots, video, cheats, faq, reviews, previews and features. All the while the community team kept our users occupied with new and exciting events (Scavenger Hunts, Demo Premiers, Beta Sign Ups, Developer chats etc.). I could go on and on and on, but I won’t. Some new features and content programming is coming your way in 2007 that I can’t mention here. So with that said, you will have to wait and see what pops up next on GameSpot and GameFAQ’s.
I’ll end my rant, with a final sentence. This business is blessed and fortunate to have a strong team of players and I look forward to journeying alongside you (albeit as an outsider looking in) for several years to come.
Thanks for the memories.

Landed in South Africa - So happy!
by henkvn on Comments
Well we made it and nobody died - yet. We have traveled from SFO to CPT - a trip of over 12k miles. We landed on the 9th, in sunny South Africa to a howling 50km/h SE wind. 33 hours of travel is behind us (including the 11 hour layover at LHR, waiting for our connection to Cape Town) . Let me start by saying, nobody should try to do this. Why we did it, with two kids, aged 4 and a 7 months old baby, goes beyond me. This was just brutal on our systems. The last two nights, we woke around 3am and it's a site to see us all up and about. That said, great to be back in the mother land. It has been 3 years for me and I am suprised to see the big boom in single family housing and the ammount of industrial buildings going up. Allot has stayed the same and it's fun to feel connected somehow to my birth place. Todd you guys would love this trip. All is well and we are excited to hit the beaches and hang out with family and friends. I'm going to update with pictures next, just wanted to check in and say hi.
