Im having trouble getting sound to play out of my receiver with video and audio files. My ps3 is connected thru hdmi cable to my hdtv, and my hdtv sends all the sounds to my reciever thru a coax audio cable. I am able to play games and watch blu ray movies thru my ps3 and have 5.1 surround sound play out of the receiver and speakers. Strangely enuf however, when I try to listen to mp3's and videos from the hard drive (like game videos and previews from the playstation store), or cd's and data disk, the sound will not come out the surrond soundspeakers. it will however, come out of the tv speakers. This is the only issue Ive had with my surround sound system not working. I can watch cable tv, dvds, etc. and have it all come out from both the tv speakers and the surround sound (i mute the tv speakers). Is there a setting or something Im missing? I know everything is plugged up properly since it works for dvds, blu ray, and games, just not music cds, video data discs, or video and audio files on the hard drive. help please!!

no it doesnt, thats the problem. youd think something designed to be the center of your home theatre would have this feature.

I have a ps3, and I'm use it to play games (obviously), surf the web, and watch blu ray and dvds. I also have a logitech harmony remote which I bought for $100 dollars or so, so that my wife could control everything with a push of a button and not mess up my home theatre. Thing is, the ps3 uses blu ray remote to control it. Does anyone know of a way or contraption to allow an IR universal remote to control the ps3 (turn on, navigate crossbar, dvd controls etc.)? thanks.
