hobbez Blog

So I decided to blog at 5am..

What have I been doing lately? Brief blog update. (done at 5am.. posted the following day, so forgive any grammatical/spelling errors)

Rubik's:

Lately I've been busy improving my rubik's cube techniques to be faster at it and so far my best time is 37.02 but I'm only averaging about 50-55 seconds. More or less a month ago my best time was 1:18.something, that was before I modified my cube, ie. lubricated it. I'm satisfied with my time but if I can still push it to 40 seconds average that would be even better! I only started cubing a few months ago, (Late May or early June? ) and I'm happy with my progress considering I also have school to deal with. Which leads me to...

School:

I've been trying to be organized and my failed attempt is to compile papers (random ones to school stuff) to folders and label them. All the bio papers and lectures from both summer sessions are neatly compiled along with my sad compilation of chords, tabs and piano sheets. My chem papers ie, lectures from the first two ochem quarters and laboratory stuff - my friend's and mine alike-, are in desperate need of organization. They're all in my room... somewhere in my room..possibly next to the new colony of evolutionary bacteria that wish to relocate permanently under my bed as they have grown accustomed to the heaps of tangled mess. Occasionally I offer them food and so now they consider me their God.

More School Stuff (Cla sses) :

Summer school sucks major anus. Biochemistry is done and only Molecular Bio is left to conquer. I learned how to synthesize a type of chemical that is more powerful (lethal/fun) than morphine. Who says you don't learn anything in biochem? However, just gathering the materials needed would put you to jail. Too bad though..bone cancer patients would wish to have this stuff. Unfortunately, having this kind of drug out and on the market would not only attract those who need it, it would also attract way too many junkies and weirdos. But whatever that's the ethical stuff.. which is beyond the purpose of this blog. Anyway, two more weeks and I'm done with molecular bio, finally. Then I have two weeks of summer vacation and fall quarter begins. Let me tell you, I'm already looking forward to winter break.. Though I'm looking forward to taking the last part of the ochem series, it should be fun. =) I'm a sucker when it comes to Ochem.

Music:

I mentioned earlier that I've compiled some of my guitar and piano sheets, so now they look neat and I can just stuff the folder in my gig bag. I had my guitar maintained a few weeks ago and I bought new strings. I forget what strings they were but I like them because they resonate more than the Ibanez strings. Oh and I bought a new guilty pleasure cd off of amazon. com, but I dare not mention the name of the band lest I get made fun of by whoever is reading this.

Games:

This has more to do with me posting on the gamespot forums again after a long break.. so yea, I post again. Oh a few days ago I was reprimanded for posting a rather controversial topic and the moderators deleted it. I'm not mad, but I'm a bit disappointed, apparently there are way too many children in the forums and they're not ready for that kind of discussion yet.

Alright, that's about it for now. Not so brief afterall.

The Nintedo DS dilemma.

After much deliberation whether or not I should get a hand-held console, I finally decided that I would get the Nintendo DS. Oh before that I was also debating which one to get, the famous PSP or the one with the "touching is good" ad. Well, Nintendo won that battle.

I'm not very familiar with the nintendo games, let alone the nintendo community here at gamespot. But I had to know which games to get, which ones have replay value, or which ones suck major anus. So I had to ask. I posted a couple of threads here and there, waited for their response, opinions, comments and other sh*t and giggles. For instance, "What should be my first game for my nintendo DS", I asked. "Get Kirby and wait for Advance Wars or Nintendogs," someone said. "Kirby or Meteos and your answer would have been perfect" argued another. "Import JUMP Superstars & Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan until the good stuff comes out," another person said. Based on the majority votes that day, Kirby was winning. So I was leaning towards getting Kirby but then this person said, "I recently bought Kirby: Canvas Curse, its a very good game, but if you want a game that lasts a while, I wouldn't recommend this. It does have alot of fun and interesting mini-games and you can also get extra characters, but the game itself doesn't last that long. If you are not into importing games, then I'd tell you to get Meteos and Warioware." Meteos seems to be leading now. The community likes the game and it does have a high rating. "Get Meteos if you like puzzle games," another nintendo owner said. Well, I do like puzzle games I say to myself, but the idea of launching blocks doesn't appeal to me that much so that's still a question mark. I played the demo of Warioware at the nearby Target and liked it. I was also considering getting Warioware Touched! until I stumbled upon the gamespot's review of the game. They gave it a 7.3 (or something I don't remember). And then I saw this game called "Feel the Magic XX/XY". It's very similar to WWT!, only sexier. "Is Feel the Magic XX/XY available here in the US? It's a little bit similar to warioware touched! isnt it?" I asked. "Yes it is available. It's not a very good game, i'd not recommend you to get it." someone answered. "Ok," I told myself.

After a couple of days, someone mentioned the Nintendo DS is going to have a price drop of $20 and will in effect on the 21st. "I will wait til next week to get my ds," I promised myself. Another person agreed with me and recommended that I should get Advance Wars and/or Nintendogs along with it. But on Sunday, after church, my dad and I went to Best Buy and there it was, shiny and on display, the precious Nintendo DS. It was blue and there were scratches and fingerprints all over the touchscreen, probably done by the idiot kids who were scratching the touch screen with house keys like it has fleas. "Excuse me," I asked the guy at the game department "May I see the blue and the white Nintendo DS?" He was nice, he showed them to me though he never let me hold them lest I runaway with the loot. During this time period my mind was going "Don't get it yet you idiot, wait for the price drop," so I said, "ok then, I will wait." I stared at the glorious DS for almost 10 minutes, picturing myself playing with both of them. The guy then asked me "Are you going to get white one or the blue one?" growing impatient. I said, "I think I will get the blue one," then I said "thank you for showing me the DS'" I was polite. "AHH Idiot," my mind said.

Now it was time for me to get a game to play on my newly bought DS. Right away I saw Meteos, Kirby, Warioware, and Feel the Magic. I was trying to recall all of the recommendations, but failed. I grabbed "Feel the Magic", paid for it, then left.

The game is fun for a couple of hours then it becomes repetitive and dull. .....To be continued
