Given that Bungie's Halo games of the past have the following Metacritic scores:-

Halo Combat Evolved - 97

Halo 2 - 95

Halo 3 - 94

Halo 3: ODST - 83 (Which I actually enjoyed)

With Destiny getting Metacritic score of 75 so far (including this 6 from Gamspot and a 3 Star at Giant Bomb), what will be really interesting in the future is to find out what the folks at Bungie and Activision really thought the scores were going to be. Did they think or know that the a Metacritic score of at least 80 wasn't going to be achieved? Surely they have been getting feedback that things weren't looking all that rosy.

After the first few missions was thinking this can't be it ... This can't be what we have been anticipating since the announcement four years ago. After a few more missions really started to get concerned, repetitive and bland shoot 'em up missions with an uninspiring and totally forgettable story delivered in a lackluster background monologue, set in beautifully crafted but totally soulless and lifeless environment. If they were attempting to show how cold and sterile a planet would be without a diverse range of fauna they nailed it. Not a single living thing in any environment except the cannon fodder and the odd flock of crows. Btw how did the birds survive when it seems every other earthbound non sentient creature on earth didn't?

By about level 12 I really started to believe this whole game, this whole £45.00 (plus the £409.99 Xbox One that I bought especially for this) game is just a pre-story and some kind of big Bungie joke, that in a week or so there will a massive game update and the real game that I have been waiting for will be here to play. That we only had to grind our way to level 20 in this thing because it is some sort of elaborate training exercise in a virtual world simulator that we guardians have to go through in order to be prepared for our live missions in the real universe of Destiny.

Now after finishing the story mode & reaching level 22 this really has to be my belief, because I cannot conceive that the creators of the outstanding and ground breaking Halo franchise would be prepared to release a game with such a disjointed, non-coherent and totally uninspiring story, set in a drab, lifeless, and soulless universe under their extremely well respected name.
