With titles like Rust, The War Z, and more recently, The Stomping Land, do you feel like the Steam indie market and the intentions of the Greenlight program are breeding grounds for future scams? Sure, Rust is a lot of fun, but it's not finished even though it was released as a beta and the team is now working on a sequel with (What we can all assume) is founded on successful endeavors from their previous installment. My questions are, how can we, as consumers, trust that we aren't giving our money to somebody who is going to scam us? With the promises that The War Z and The Stomping Land issued us that they evidently failed to deliver on (The Stomping Land isn't even on the freaking market anymore) is it possible that we may never see the release of some of these games? They have their pre-order and beta testing earned cash, so who knows how long a game could be in beta or even pre-alpha form? It results in us paying for unfulfilled promises and broken games without the ability for us to hold the developers as accountable as we can with DICE and Ubisoft.

In a nutshell, it really is a beautiful opportunity for people who have a true passion for game making, but is the Steam market expanding out of control?

@waffleboy22: I'm not saying that they should be done away with either! It's the constant cookie cutter releases like Battlefield, Call of Duty, and Assassin's Creed that pollute the market. They cram broken, half finished games down your throat and then apologize for them later on. If studios can efficiently put them out, then by all means, but the fact of the matter is they can't.

@amillionhp: If you've not played Skyrim on the PC, you absolutely must! One of the best decisions Bethesda has ever made was releasing the GDK for usage on the Steam market. There are a couple cool mods like Realistic Needs and Diseases that add basic health, food, and drink requirements to be met. Not mention something like Frostfall which adds the effect of weather on your character and disables fast travelling, making a whole new experience altogether.

How about some thrown weapons! Or an ACTUAL hand to hand skill!!
