What exactly do we consider a simulation?

(Hey listen this is my first blog so bear with me as i get better at making blogs)What exactly do we consider a simulation? This is the question that i ponder every night as to what we couild consider a simulation.according to the dictionary a Simulation is the imitation of some real thing, state of affairs, or process. The act of simulating something generally entails representing certain key characteristics or behaviours of a selected physical or abstract system. So if we already now what exactly a simulation is then why have we not made an accurate simulation of the world we live in today?there are many reasons why but the main reasons are that computers do not have anywhere near the potential to proccess such a huge environment ,hell not even the core i7 has that much power but if we can't simulate such a large environment why not simulate something smaller? We already have but it is not as close as what you would actually call a simulation, well at least to me.SimCity Societys is a good example of this It allows you to control a city ,set buildings and depending on the buildings you set your city adapts to those choices (hence if you begin placing lots of government buildings your city becomes oppressive or communist and it reflects that by changing the roads and light posts and opens up new buildings that are specific for that government type or city) ;a game that allows you to place buildings ,directly and indirectly interact with citizens ,change your politics and see how it influences the nation (or world/religion if it is a god game) by reflecting that on the music people play ,the buildings ,how people react to a certain situation .even the ground and air are affected by your choices, having the abilityto create/Influence the universe from the big bang to the molecular cloud to the protosun of your solar system of choice to its T-Tauri phase to its outflow and post-T-Tauri phase to the condensation of the planets through the process of evolution on your planet of choosing to the subgiant phase of that star to its giant phase to its death all the way to the Big Rip.now THAT is what i consider a Simulation ,of course if it allowed you even more flexibility you might not even now the difference between reality and fiction. So that is what i would consider a simulation ,for some however Its a simple RTS (Empire Earth II perhaps) but thats why game companys need to realize if they really want to make a best selling simulation they really have to suck players into the experience ,make it believable ,have a sence of depth (its okay to add a sence of urgency too) to really reap the rewards.
