Wow, I always kinda figured you'd work at Gamespot forever, maybe that was unrealistic :). New job sounds like a good fit too, I always felt you had a lot of passion for the writing in games and I sometimes complained about that fact, thinking you had maybe just slightly unfairly punished a game a bit too much for not having a great story :).

All da best!

Not gaming, but you know how a lot of TV shows nowadays talk about a "2 screen experience". I know you can already do this without a WiiU, but imagine if the show was purposely streamed in a special format with metadata and such for the WiiU. Then your "2 screens" could interact.

That depends.

Do you plan on taking it on any car, plane, train, or bus trips?

You know something that I've thought about with the WiiU gamepad, although it's not portable it is a small easily transportable screen and controller in one, so assuming you can power the base unit it is the most easily portable "full" console. I'm thinking like a high power inverter thats enough to handle the WiiU and then playing games in the car on the pad. I have a high power inverter, I think it's 800watts but needs to be directly wired to the battery. I have another thats I think 300wattsm no idea if its enough to power the WiiU :).

Zombie U has been a heck of a lot of fun for me. I'm about 6 hours in and I've done a lot of exploring and looting. I've had 5 or 6 characters but I've lasted the longest with my most recent one (2 hours) and have leveled up a ton. I'm hoping I don't die with this one.BadNewsBen
Is the exploring actually like free roaming, self directed. and is there a reason to do so? I just can't get over thinking ZombiU is like this heavily scripted thing and I don't like that kinda thing.

I'm considering this game, but yeah I wonder how well it will play with keybd+mouse.

My biggest concern though, will the game still be fun if you just take off and explore, screw around.  Yes it's open world, but is there anything to do outside of missions, scripted chase sequences, etc.

I'm all for PC gaming, and I don't ever see that changing, as long as PC gaming is alive.

However, and I touched on this in another recent post, I am getting frustrated with it.  Some might say it's stupid, but I like to play games on high settings, high resolution, etc., so I usually build a nice gaming box every couple years, and make upgrades between.

This year has been the most dissapointing by far.  I built a new box, spent about $1800, and the new games this season are like mods, mediocre console ports, nothing that pushes the envelope.  All the games are coming out simultaneously on consoles, or often ahead of PC, and the PC version just ends up being a decent game that doesn't wow me like they did in past years.  Like wow, look at those graphics, wow look at the interaction with the environment, wow look at the physics and destructible environments, etc etc.  It's all missing this time around, and I fear this will be the case from now on.

So you're assuming they're idiots and don't know how to compensate for things that the entire internet thinks of within 5 minutes. :DMakari

No, they might be liars though :).

I know very little of the facts involved, I am just trying to make the point that people can be wrong on purpose as well as being idiots.

As for the entire internet figuring it out in 5 minutes, well that's the game of playing public opinion.  Again, I don't claim to know how this will turn out, but pumping out facts and then having them argued is a game.  Let's say you get your story about how pirated your product is out into the media, and then a bunch of internet geeks start to cut down your facts in forums, but those arguments never make it back into the mainstream media, articles, etc.

Well, if you're intended audience for sympathy is the type that doesn't read the geek forums, you've just won, regardless of how many geeks don't agree.  It's all a game, and my example is just that, an example, but it's one way in which you can play the game and win without even having to prove your facts.

While Consoles are stuck with the same crappy technology for wut is usually 5 yrs, we have the ability to constantly upgrade our PCs to look and run so much better.

IMaBIOHAZARD

Unfortunately for us PC gamers, that advantage is not what it used to be. With all the big name releases lately coming out on PCs and consoles, the PC version while still looking better is seriously held back.

Look at some of this season's big releases like Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3. One is a new engine, the other like a mod, neither actually demonstrates a substantial movement forward in graphics technology, physics, interaction, depth, etc. I honestly believe the reason for this is consoles. Beyond making money in the short term, consoles are what all the major companies want us all to be gaming on, because they are nice little closed platforms that are much easier to control. They want to make the console the little box by your TV that you use to play games, rent streaming movies, or consume any number of other products and/or services.

When I see an RTS like Endwar coming out on consoles before PCs, it blows my mind. AN RTS!!! That would've been the domain of only PCs not long ago.

Don't get me wrong though, I don't deny that games like Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2 are good, they are. However, they are not GREAT, they are not new, they are not advancing the state of the art in PC gaming. And yes, I believe games SHOULD advance, for a number of reasons I won't go into specifically, this post is getting long :).

Oh, and on another note, I am kind of sickened by the professional reviews this season too, seems like they are all onboard like part of some conspiracy and quietly avoiding criticizing the games on points like I am making, and I know I am not alone here.
