8800GT: 65nm G92 core clocked at 600Mhz with 1500Mhz Shader and 1800Mhz Memory

9800GT: 65nm G92 core clocked at 600Mhz with 1500Mhz Shader and 1800Mhz Memory

The difference? 9800GT has PureVideoHD and HybridPower and Hybrid SLI.
Unelss you plan on using these three features, 8800GT=9800GT

Pic near the bottom->only one SLI connector=card does not do triple SLI.

9800GT doesn't do 3-way SLI (at least not the reference cards). 8800GT vs 9800GT is a hard comparison. I'm still trying to figure out the difference between the 9800GT and the 8800GT myself.

The basic functions of BIOS are pretty straightforward, I think. Mostly Enable/disable some mobo functions (Of course, you'd have to look in the mobo manual to know what all these functions are). For the most part, defaults will work for new builds.

I chose a poor topic this time. I'll repost when the project is closer to completion.

uhm... no it's not an ad... click the pic for the fullsize version. It's a screenshot from a technology demo we're working on. Three games and Video Encoding playing simultaneously.

I don't want to break any bubbles... but what are you trying to acheive?

He's part of iBuyPower's hardware testing team. He's showing how the 4870X2 has the capacity to run four graphics intensive applications at the same time.

Sounds to me the CPU his at it's limit... hence the bottleneck...

And really... you want to show what the 4870x2, show us a benchmark of any game or vantage.

o_O Ok, Well I thought this was pretty cool stuff that I wanted to share. I guess not so cool after all. Guess I'll think twice before posting anything about unreleased cards or incomplete demos from now on.

And of course the CPU is at its limit. Part of point of this demo is to max out the system. That's why there's video encoding in the package. If we weren't trying to max out the CPU or increase memory usage, we wouldn't be rendering a video simultaneously.
