rayvin is right, better to just get your name out among friends and acquintences and start out that way. IF (keyword IF) it starts making you good money, you tell all the people that are pumping your name up that you are going to start a business. word of mouth is the best form of advertising, and if you can make people want your products, you'll do alot better than just selling rigs on e-bay. i thinking about doing the same thing, but i realize that doing solely comp building wont be enough. as the other posters said, hardware moves to fast and prices are dropping constantly. it would be a smater idea to use rig building as a base, and sell parts for the enthusists. we live in the "right now" generation. and if you can supply parts that people want "right now" you should do good. the biggest part making sure people are gonna want what you provide. im building a rig when i get home, and i already have a friend that wants me to build him a rig when im done. i know im rambling, but i have been thinking about this for a while and weighing the pros and cons. another good idea would be to go around to the different computer store near you and see how badly they are ripping people off. then undercut those prices to make your product more desireable. a rig can be built better and cheaper than what bestbuy/circutcity/mom&pop businesses can do. just remember not to get greedy and you'll build a good reputation

yeah im with sam on this one. looks like you have the internetz dl so heres what you do. go to google, look up each card. look at the specs for each one, and whichever one has higher numbers is usually the better card. this is just like school im not doing your homework for you

a lot of high power cards require a 6-pin pcie cable from the psu in order to power the gpu. but that doesnt mean you comp cant run it. there are adapters that turn two 4-pin molex plugs into a 6-pin pcie plug. the only reason i can think he would tell you your comp can't run it is if your psu wouldnt put out enough power to do that or if you dont have any 4-pins to spare. dont always be so quick to think people are ripping you off. maybe he's just not as much of a comp wiz as you think he is and doesnt know about this adapter

There are 3 kinds of memory that most people use
DDR , DDR2 and DDR3
You probably have a DDR or a DDR2 since DDR3 is pretty expensive and new.

I'm a computer newbie so if I make a mistake someone fix me.

You gotta tell us what your mother board is
Abdullahcoolyo

well theres that BUT theres also the MHz rating of that card... mines 800MHz some are 1066MHz 600MHz and that what the comp guy is gonna need to figure out what kind you need, its usually on the chip somewhere or if you have the MB manual (even if you dont you can download it) it will tell what kind of ram and the MHz rating it supports
