hmm...this is tough for me considering i've played most of the SE games that have been released in america. i would had to say my favorite boss battle in an SE game would have to be the boss battle in dragon quest VII when you fight the lord of the dragovians. i say this because you need to beat him in order to see the hidden/true ending of the game instead of the normal ending which doesn't explain as much. another reason is because every time you battle him you can choose a reward for defeating him each time and most of the rewards are awesome. as for my favorite side quest in an SE game that would have to be the great cockitrice escape side quest from ff12 because you get a cool reward for each cockitrice you return home and a bouns reward if you return them all.
i would suugest dragon quest VIII: journey of the cursed king. it was one of the most fun and addictive games i have ever played not to mention one of the longest(it took me 92 hours to get 100% completion)
the only character i used that on were the main character that the game was about. also i was only about 5 years old when i started playing video games and by then the ps1 was about to come out so because i don't have many memories of that i don't really mind that it's gone. but i do see your point about it making the game more personal.
yo! my (user)name is ichigo22 which i picked after ichigo kurosaki from the anime/manga bleach and i have loved the games made by square soft and enix before they merged to form square enix. my top 3 favorite franchises from square enix are final fantasy, kingdom hearts, and dragon quest. i also like the star ocean series as well as some games from the mana series although i felt that sword of mana and children of mana were dissappointing(sorry if i spelled that wrong i'm not the best speller). i'm also a big fan of anime, manga, music, movies, and tv.
most of the characters listed i actually like but if i had to pick a character from any of the square enix games i thought was the worst i'd go with edward from ff4 since he was not only weak but he had an annoying personality. also on a side note while i don't hate the characters themselves i do think that cait sith and the entire tarutaru race were weak and unrelyable but at least cait sith provides comic relief and i do find the tarutaru really cute.
the games that i would recommend for the wii are zelda: twilight princess(duh!), dragon ball z budokai tenkaichi 2(a hugely underestimated game in certain places), trauma center: second opinion, marvel ultimate alliance, call of duty 3(it's not the best fps but it's better than red steel), and that's all i've really played. games for the wii that aren't out yet that i'm looking forward to are no more heroes(gawd that looks awesome), dragon quest swords: the masked queen and the tower of mirrors, final fantasy crystal chronicals: the crystal bearers, mario kart wii(duh!), super smash bros. brawl(duh! again), metroid prime 3(do i need to say it?), and a few others.
