@Fallenlords69: while I agree that exclusives aren't necessarily the be all and end all, I do think they hold power over a gamers decision to buy a console, no doubt. Tbh though what has kept Sony as top dog so far has been the class games released for the system and only that system. Microsoft releasing a more powerful console isn't really what everyone is asking for.

It's undoubtedly a great machine, fantastic that it's like an affordable gaming PC, but the games make a console great. Why is the switch selling so well? Specs? No. Games

@rapt0rs: you can say that about any system though let's be fair. "Why did you buy the ps4?" "Because I like the games on it." As I said there's a lot of great titles on the horizon, along with 3rd party games starting to look more promising.

No doubt in the not too distant future it'll come down in price making it a great system to pick up. I wouldn't mind one for the car myself....

@rapt0rs: well they might be your reasons for a purchase, but I can assure you there's a lot of decent games on the system and upcoming in the future. Not everyone likes Zelda or splatoon, odyssey would've attracted a lot of people to make a purchase

@rapt0rs: that works out about £620, so for a budget 4K that's not great for buyers in the UK lol

4K is still expensive over here right now but that's normal since its still in its early days

@rapt0rs: well why do you think the switch has sold well? If it's not for power then it's only one thing, games. The fact it offers portability is a bonus. The games have been what's always sold Nintendo systems, mainly because it appeals to a wide audience. Same here with switch, although I'm pretty sure there's more to it than Zelda and splatoon lol. Mario kart 8, odyssey, metroid prime 4 on the way as well. How about xenoblade chronicles 2 or other great rpgs

@deviltaz35: yeah at least that takes the edge off if you don't own a 4K TV yet.

@sodapoppimpski: thats a fair point. The majority of big titles are multiplatform games. The Xbox one x isn't even released yet so to say power alone is showing it'll be ok is bold.

As I said in the post above power alone will not be enough. Nintendo is perhaps the strongest example of why the games matter the most, and how exclusives play a big role in that. Is the switch a cutting edge console?? From an innovative point of view sure, but in power? Not a chance. Yet that console is sprouting wings and flying off the shelves. Why? The content is great, nothing to do with specs.

The gaming scene has changed yet again in the past few month's. The Xbox one x is a fantastic console, but it will live or die by the games it has including solid exclusives

@sladakrobot: yeah they don't wanna lag behind I guess, because 4K is moving forward and they want to get there first. Personally I feel like the poor sales of the Xbox one have something to do with it as well, however small an impact that might have.

History might repeat itself though, the original Xbox came into the arena with a more powerful console only for it to backfire slightly. So power alone will not make the Xbox one x a success, they need to sort out their problem of games at the moment and concentrate on delivering AAA games. No matter how powerful the console is, the games have to be top priority.

When it comes to the PS4 pro there's no point comparing the two consoles. Scorpio is far more powerful and feels like the "next gen" so to speak. Whereas the PS4 pro is just a premium option of the standard PS4. The PS5 will be sony's powerhouse when that comes along.

It's interesting though to see what happens over the next couple of years. With the Xbox one x on the horizon, Sony in a strong position and Nintendo storming back with the switch, its hard to tell what'll happen
