They just changed name, Dark Souls is basically Demon's Souls. If it wasn't for Sony's rights, Dark Souls probably wouldn't existed. It would probably be called Demon's Souls 2.

@sladakrobot: old school jrpg's are NOT only 16bit, best jrpg's are probably on PS1, so they kinda lived through much bigger era.
