Hey,

I'm a 360 user so the PS3 is very confusing for me. I bought the first version of the PS3 and it keeps freezing. Is this a bad sign that I should be concerned about? (like the RROD on Xbox) Also, I noticed in some PS3 related forums that some people mention YLOD, just curious as to what it stands for.

Thanks.

I got Bulletstorm on its release date, also unsure of whether or not I like it. I tried the demo first and it still didn't interest me too much. However, I decided to give the game another shot because I found the points system rewarding. (killing your enemies in creative ways to earn points) The game environment is beautiful, you truly have innovative ways to kill people (sounds sadistic I know haha). I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed Gears of War. The characters are somewhat similar, but they have more personality. Online, you have Anarchy mode which is like Horde (GoW) where you and 3 other players team up to fight enemy waves. For me this will probably be a one-time play through and the occasional online play. The game is overall fun and different, but a little repetitive. Even if you don't end up liking the game, you have an option of trading it in, or selling it. :)

Personally, I needed some random entertainment while I'm waiting for Brink.

I think Bioware put much more effort into ME than DA. The DA2 demo was very fun though, so I'm excited to see what they did with it, compared to ME2. But that's besides your question. I would pick ME2.

Picked up an old PSX from the local Cash Converters today for £5.99 in pretty much immaculate condition apart from the controller, the RF adaptor and the inside of the disk tray which WREAK of rotting cigarettes. :( I've been leaving it open to air for the past few hours and the thankfully smell is starting to fade.

I got Gran Turismo 2, Tony Hawk's 2 and Spyro with it. I'm planning on getting WipEout 2097 and Crash Team Racing, but I've never owned a PS1 before, so are there any great games you guys can recommend?

NOTE: I'm not a fan of JRPGs, but one of my favourite games ever is Phantasy star IV on the Mega Drive. I also like racing games and 3d platformers, but I'm open to anything really :P

Nismology

If only you knew me, I have about 7 PS1's and I have no idea where they all came from. Anyway, as a kid I remember that I really liked Pocket Fighter / Street Fighter.

if play alot i'd suggest getting a ps3 ,, i usually play 4-5 hours a day and my xbox 360 slim just died after i had it for 6 months.. ive gone through 2 xboxes now.. maybe its just my bad luck :(m1k360

The only time my xbox died was when my friend's little brother stepped on it. (I was so frustrated.) But I had another one lying around, and now I have the new one. I use it everyday for long periods of time, up to 12 hours. No problems. Maybe it is the environment it is in? Or it could be your bad luck. :(

Personally I have all 3 consoles, but 360 is my favourite. Mainly because I find that controllers to be a lot more comfortable and the interface to be more...erm pretty? Well it's more attractive and appealing to me. Online-wise, you can have "parties" which is a little feature where you and your friends gather to talk to each other while playing any game. So for instance, if I'm playing Reach, and someone else Call of Duty, we can still speak to each other. I find the online community on 360 to be more friendly than the PS3. Then again, I don't play my PS3 very often. The best thing about many consoles nowadays is the multiplayer and online gaming experience. I didn't have Live for awhile and noticed my xbox gathering dust. So if you've got many friends who have a 360 then go for it. The 360 & PS3 pretty much have the same variety of games, just certain ones are exclusive to the system. Like Killzone and Halo. In my opinion it doesn't really matter, unless you are going for the story line.

The only thing you would have a problem with is that, you are 13. I'm not trying to discriminate or stereotype, but as long as you don't behave the way a lot of younger kids do, then no one will be complaining about those "damn kids" playing an M rated game.

To be eligible for the Rewards program you must be in the USA, or UK and 18 years or older. They will be adding more countries soon.

I do and don't like the achievement system. I enjoy it mainly because when I hear the notification pop up on the Xbox 360 I get excited to see what I've achieved. Secondly, I dislike it because I feel obliged to get all of them, but don't have the patience. I also don't like it because it has changed from getting achievements throughout the game to, going out of your way to get them. Of course I have all the time in the world to get every single achievement that doesn't really involve the story line..

Personally, I don't enjoy the game much because I feel like I'm playing the same thing over and over again. I would rather play Halo: Reach, but I have never been a huge fan of Halo until the release of Reach. This is because they added things that made it different, such as the specials you can choose in multiplayer matchmaking, ranking up, upgrading armor and the such. I know CoD has this too, but it did since Modern Warfare. It's a bit difficult to actually do something interesting because it's more reality based, but I often feel like it's missing something that makes me intrigued enough to play. Incidentally, I even get bored of Halo: Reach sometimes. So maybe it's just me.

On a side note, there will always be those "childish" gamers because of parents who don't pay attention to ESRB and think their kids are mature. In all honesty, if the only game you play is CoD, and "hyped" games, it makes me feel like you shouldn't even call yourself a gamer. Yes, those games are sometimes good, but if you were a true gamer you would play more than just those "popular" ones.
