Interesting selection of programs. I would recommend VLC for Video and Izarc for compression. Also no music player mentioned, maybe try something like Foobar2000 if your in the mood for an adventure (highly customizable with addons). That said, these are some pretty good tips for starters, but you'll probably broaden your horizons a bit if your really into your PC.
