First Blog Ever!

Hello for the firs time! I decided I wanted to join the world of blogging and I figured today would be a great opportunity. Yesterday (Feb 12 2010) I tunned in to watch the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Olympic Games hosted by Vancouver. These games are the first to be held in Canada during my lifetime and I'm really excited for all the athletes. As a Canadian, I found the opening ceremonies to be a great mix of music, dance, and culture. It was great to see the shoutout to the aboriginal people across this great country and show them the respect they deserve.

I enjoyed the ceremonies but was a little worried because sometimes things just don't go well in Canada. Things were on there way and personally I really enjoyed the whales moving under the floor then shooting out water onto the stage. For many days there were many rumours about who would light the torch and personally I was hoping for some kind of connection to Terry Fox, one of the greatest Canadians of all time, to light the torch. His mother did make an appearance carrying the olympic flag beside Donal Sutherland (who was a great narrator by the way) and many other famous Canadians. In the end it was Wayne Gretzky, one of the greatest players to ever play the game. Now I don't think this is a bad choice but I was really hoping for someone who did more than play hockey. I know he saved the game and made it more popular across the states but when other people see Wayne lighting the torch they will think we're just about hockey. I would of loved to see someone who did a lot of good for the world, there was actually a rumour of a hollogram of Terry Fox to light the torch which I was hoping for. Now I know it sounds pretty far fetched but when you have 40 million dollars invested in the ceremonies.....who knows? As I was saying earlier, things just don't go well in Canada. There were technical difficulties that stoped one of the stadium torches from coming out of the stage. I did a huge facepalm but was happy to see Steve Nash lighting one of the torches, hes my favorite athlete and a deserving Canadian.

Wayne did a great job but i was dissapointed to see him leave the building because it lost all its "epicness" once he entered the streets and jumped into a chevy truck for 15 minutes. Oh well, he got there and sniped the flame.

Of course the games were not all fun and games as many now know that Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili died earlier in the day after falling off his luge and hitting a steel pillar. Terrible news, this man worked hard for many years to make it to vancouver and right when he was hours away from making it to the show, his life was taken away. I think this is an example that life is short and it sure isn't fair.

Well thats it for my first blog, I hope anyone who reads it enjoys it. Leave a comment or two and let me know if you have a blog i can read.

On a side note, I'm starting to do video game videos, maybe some walkthrough/playthroughs and gameplay videos. Heres my first one I know the brightness isn't very good but I'm figuring that out. Its the heavy rain demo and I nailed all the QTE.
