Neglecting consoles

It seems I've been neglecting my other consoles whilst concentrating on the Nintendo DS and PSP. I know I'm missing all the latest games that are coming out on the PS2 for example. Luckily a quick but unplanned view of the Nectar website (Sainsbury's reward points) made me aware of Persona 4 for the PS2. So, reading about it, I decided I had to have it.

It arrived this morning all sealed and looking very interesting. I can't wait to play it after reading so many good reviews. I can't help but think, "What other good games have I missed out on?"

What I would love to own is the PS2 portable screen. As I spend a lot of time in my bed (for lots of reasons other than sleep) it would be ideal for me to use. Before it didn't interest me as I had all my consoles hooked up to the TV in the bedroom and I didn't take the PS2 around with me. Now, I think it would be perfect for me unless I'm using the dance mat.

My only problem is finding one that isn't damaged and is a good price. I saw one in one of those exchange shops but it didn't look in very good condition and they were asking too much. Now, it's gone so they're obviously still in demand.

I may have to check on Ebay to see what I can find. As I'm saving up also for the new DSi, I've got some serious cut backs to make :)

Chrono Trigger here I come!

Well, tomorrow I shall be off to buy a copy of Chrono Trigger for DS!

I don't think I will ever stop playing RPG's if they continue to be this good. I'm also awaiting eagerly some of the investigation games although I may have a longer wait for those.

It's funny how your tastes can change over the years or perhaps it's because there are so many new game genres making appearances.

It reminds me a bit like childhood when the choice for toys etc. were definitely limited but now it seems that kids have so much more to choose from than ever before.

It kind of makes you want to never grow up!

I'm wondering: what age will I be when I eventually stop playing video games?

Battle of the consoles

My wanted game list for the Nintendo DS is getting longer and longer by the minute and yet my PSP game wanted list is, in comparison, very short.

I seem to use the PSP for watching movies on more than I do playing games. It's weird but Sony was the one I used to prefer a long time ago but now that has all changed and I tend to prefer Nintendo.

I think it's probably due to the fact that there seem to be more games available for Nintendo than there are for Sony. Or, games that I prefer anyway.

I use the PSP for watching films when I'm unwell and cooped up in bed. It's ideal for that and I've built up quite a collection of films to watch which out number my game collection.

I would like to upgrade my DS to the new DSi when it's available in the UK because I'm sure the touch screen is losing its touch ;)

I would also like to get my hands on the new PSP 3000 but that could take me awhile!

Anyway, off to check to see if there are any new releases…:)

Does anyone know...

...if it's worth learning Japanese in order to play imported Japanese games?

Has anyone actually done this with any degree of success?

Would love to know!

How much notice do you take of Game reviews?

Usually when I'm looking for games to add to my collection for whatever platform, I go with my gut instinct. That just means if it feels, sounds and looks right then I'll buy it. Using this system, very rarely do I buy a game I hate.

Occasionally, I may move away from this system and rely on gamer reviews usually of the critic kind and often will find that I'm totally unsatisfied with the game.

So many times I've spent hundreds of pounds (and I'm not kidding) on games that I've read reviews for and bought only to have to resell them on because they're something I wouldn't normally touch with a 10ft barge pole.

Just wondering if anyone else has their own little system for buying games? Do you take much notice of readers and/or critic reviews? Or do you use your gut instinct as to whether a game is right for you?

Would love to hear from you!

Game Consoles Vs PCs

Game Consoles are better for playing Video Games

Game consoles are better than PCs to play games!

I would choose game consoles every time to play my video games on!

Why?

Because, they were built for it!
