@Tiwill44: indeed, but that's not a bad thing imo. DKC and the snow levels, DKC 2 and the water levels with a piranha behind you (let's not even talk about Stickerbush Symphony), DKC3 and the revert controls level. It has always been like that, there was always a couple of levels that demanded us to learn the pattern and get better. Most people find Crash 4 stressful, but once you collect all gems and hidden boxes, you realize it's a masterpiece with lots of attention to detail in terms of game design. I'd only consider this a negative point if there was no way to dodge/avoid taking damage on certain parts of the game, which is not the case.
I could understand giving this game a 7 because it has the full price for a small graphical improvement, but your reasoning is just not good. What you pointed as bad:
Difficulty
We are talking about a Donkey Kong game. It was difficult on SNES, it's meant to be hard on new generations as well.
Roll and ground pound mapped to a single button
It was always like that
Sometimes if you lose Diddy, you might as well start over
Just learn how to roll in the air and jump when falling
It's really sad to see people expecting something fails, also some comments of hate expecting employees are fired. I work in the gaming industry, so let me tell you this: it's not the team's fault. Developers, artists, community managers, game designers and QA deliver what they're told to deliver. Indeed, sometimes we have a saying, but ultimately it's not the team's decision. PMs, POs and Higher ups are responsible for these bad decisions.
PMs/POs present the ideas, Higher ups (C level) will push the product to be more 'revenue-driven'. That means also PMs and POs are not entirely responsible, because they're expected to show results.
Now back to this topic. When you're expecting a game fails and everyone gets fired, keep in mind that you're expecting the wrong people to be punished. The ones responsible for this bad decision will keep their work, they'll still be living in mansions and drive sport cars, while the rest of the team that actually worked hard will be kicked-off, and they will have to look for another job while trying to take care of their families.
