Xbox 360-2

As stupid as it may look or sound, that's pretty much the closest to a "normal" name without going the 720 or Y/Zbox route. Either that or a back-to-basics Xbox 3.

Got an RE5 Elite after my older Premium's disc drive started crashing. It wasn't dead, but I didn't want to wait and have to repurchase all of my games because of scratched discs. Just waiting on the data transfer kit from MS before I start using the 120gig HDD that came with it.

#1 for games like RE5, which IMO had checkpoints set pretty logically.

#4 for games like Fallout 3 where you have so many choices you can make it would be stupid not to let you save whenever you want.

I'm playing Silent Hill Homecoming right now and I'm so ticked at how spread out the save locations are (yeah yeah, part of the "tension" of the genre) and how randomly it seems the game chooses checkpoints to start you from when you continue after a death. I'll keep my complaints in this thread limiited to the save issues I have with the game.

Long story short, I received an RCA HTIAB upconverting DVD player with 5.1 surround sound speakers as a gift.

Unfortunately, there are no inputs other than the red and white stereo AUX-INs. Which means I can't get surround sound from my xbox 360, just from the DVD player.

I'm asking for an AV receiver/amp (whatever) suggestion based on the following criteria:

My tv (Panasonic 42pz80u) does not accept 1080p via component cables, so I'll need component INs with the ability to route it to an HDMI OUT.

Optical INs so I can have 5.1 surround from my xbox 360 and digital audio from my tv (barring that, regular stereo INs will work for the TV.)

HDMI INs for future use with either PS3 or standalone blu-ray player (not sure which route I want to go yet...)

Bare-wire speaker connections so I don't have to replace my current speakers (or if there's a way to connect banana plugs to the bare wire, I'd be down with that.)

I'd prefer to not replace the DVD player if I don't have to, but from what I understand, blu-ray players upconvert too? If the PS3 does it, that will pretty much seal the deal.

I'll continue to research my options, but if anyone has suggestions based on personal experience, that would help a lot.

Thanks
