Long story short, I received an RCA HTIAB upconverting DVD player with 5.1 surround sound speakers as a gift.
Unfortunately, there are no inputs other than the red and white stereo AUX-INs. Which means I can't get surround sound from my xbox 360, just from the DVD player.
I'm asking for an AV receiver/amp (whatever) suggestion based on the following criteria:
My tv (Panasonic 42pz80u) does not accept 1080p via component cables, so I'll need component INs with the ability to route it to an HDMI OUT.
Optical INs so I can have 5.1 surround from my xbox 360 and digital audio from my tv (barring that, regular stereo INs will work for the TV.)
HDMI INs for future use with either PS3 or standalone blu-ray player (not sure which route I want to go yet...)
Bare-wire speaker connections so I don't have to replace my current speakers (or if there's a way to connect banana plugs to the bare wire, I'd be down with that.)
I'd prefer to not replace the DVD player if I don't have to, but from what I understand, blu-ray players upconvert too? If the PS3 does it, that will pretty much seal the deal.
I'll continue to research my options, but if anyone has suggestions based on personal experience, that would help a lot.
Thanks
