A 12 or 16 core processor would work just as well today as a quad-core processor did 2 - 3 years ago. It's not like we're back in the stupid ages where people couldn't believe a computer could reach a gigahert. Besides, it's not how it would run rather what it opens us up to. Games that can rely on multiprocessor support can be utilitzed more efficiently. With that, we'll have better games.
None of it is truth. In fact, some games will only play on Vista. Vista is a bulk OS with a lot of bells and whistles for users that aren't necessarily tech savvy. With a few tweaks it will in fact run better than XP and will run your games just fine. Your friend is all bluster.
I wouldn't worry. Demi-god seems like it's the type of game that will ferment well after awhile. With the support they're giving the game I doubt you'll see it pitter off into nothingness within months. A game of this caliber will become more than just a niche game.
