[QUOTE="ishii255"] Actually you can download High res packs for the textures and the environment for all 3 marathon games (which were all released for free under GPL) Just go to the Aleph One website, download the binaries, and compile the games from scratch. Sure beats paying 10 bucks or whatever for just one game in the series. edit: plus you get mods and mouse look. With everything you get from Aleph One, its hard to argue that the ($10?) XBLA release is better with its additional Survival mode or whatever.FrozenLiquid
I already have the high res texture packs.
But it's no complete conversion like this one is. This is the real 3D deal guys.
That would take away from the original experience, even though thats probably not why people will be buying it. But i'm sure it's still wicked :)[QUOTE="ishii255"][QUOTE="Spartan070"][QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]Well yeah you can download via Freeware but this version seems far superior to the original release. The impressive graphical enhancements alone are worth it.:DUm, Marathon 2 can be downloaded as freeware from Bungie themselves. It's not hard to find.
But you won't be playing it like that total conversion, so I'll be getting it and playing it all over again :D
As for what Marathon is, it is one of the best FPSs ever made. It was better than Doom in almost every way. Only thing was that it was on a Mac. And no one had a Mac to play it on :(

Oh, and I meant it's hard to find a hard copy. I collect games so I'm still getting used to digital distribution.:P

Plus achievement points.
I guess I just don't like to spend my money superfluously. That is, as long as you don't consider videogames to be superfluous.[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]Well yeah you can download via Freeware but this version seems far superior to the original release. Yeah i'm basically the opposite. I'm a sap for that kinda stuffi thought the story was terrible
worst story in a FF game since FF5
gameplay was also very repetitive and dull, having characters on auto attack most of the time
FFX was a far better game
if it wasnt for FFX the entire ps2 era of FF games would have been pathetic..
