I got one of those too. :S

I just bought a PS3 Slim one month ago and it never got hot, even after playing for 10-12 hours!

Other thoughts...

+lighter to carry

+less power hungry

+don't get dirty so fast (fingerprints)

+its slim (not much, but who cares...)
