From reading on various forums it seems that Pal/Ntsc speed problem still exsists even with hd (they still output as 50hz or 60hz)

Is it true Pal Ps3's are limited to a 50hz output even in hd modes

Can anyone confirm this?

So if you have a Pal Ps3 and an hdtv your games are still going to be 17.5% slower than an Ntsc Ps3 and hdtv?

So what is the point in buying a Pal Ps3 then?

There will be not point buying if it doesn't. You could just buy a stand alone hd player that will do it , give you a better picture probably and probably make it multi region as well.

So will the hdmi cable carry the dolby true hd signal as well as the picture then?

Will the hd drive send the signal to the 360 which will then output it through the hdmi?so when a v receivers with dolby true hd decoders are released we can get hd sound?

Seems silly if the 360 will do a hd picture but not sound (this applies to hd films only I think games are limited to normal dolby digital?)

oh dear, you can not even buy an av reciver that will decode dolby true hd or the new dts hd format yet

aslong as the ps3 has an onboard dolby true hd decoder you can do this or just use the opitical output to get dolby digital http://www.dolby.com/consumer/technology/trueHD/AVRs/trueHD_avrs_2.html

In the future hdmi a v reivevers will be able to do it all http://www.dolby.com/consumer/technology/trueHD/AVRs/trueHD_avrs_3.html

So i'm not sure if its woth buying an expensive hdmi av receiver rather than a standard dolby digital one when in a couple of years you will be able to get a better one that will control sound and picture, its up to you
