Previews tend to be optimistic. We won't get an accurate idea of how good the game is until it's released. I'm hoping that this game succeeds too, though. I've always been a fan of over the top fighting games.

Also, I'm hoping that the game's storyline isn't a disjointed mess like the Budokai and Soul Calibur games tend to have. It would be nice to have a coherent series of events, rather than a series of snapshots from a tv show (leaving people who haven't seen the show in a state of confusion) or a cast of characters each with their own backstory but little else to chronicle the course of events that have led to this point and are happening now.

In terms of hardware, the PS3 is somewhat better than the 360 in terms of performance and light years ahead in terms of reliability. Really, the only reason you should pick up an XBOX360 is if you're interested in the exclusive games (of which there are quite a few). Therefore, the reasons for picking up an XBOX360 are purely subjective; if you like the exclusives enough to buy an expensive system, then go for it, otherwise don't.

I voted yes due to the uncomfirmed rumor that PS2 discs are read at a much higher speed than PS3 discs, and thus may increase your PS3's degradation. This information was from a Gamestop employee who seems to be, through past conversations, more knowledgeable than most.

125: If you suddenly lose control of your body and find yourself enacting a melodramatic scene, don't try to stop it. Any attempt to regain control will only deposit in you in future, where you'll find that your home town has been bombed to hell, a talking ferret now follows you wherever you go, and your archenemy has removed his mask and looks suspiciously like your father.

126: Peaceful aliens are a myth. Seven out of ten alien species want to take over the world, two out of ten want to blow us up for no good reason, and the last one is just hungry.

127: It's possible to swim in molten lava. However, for health reasons it's not recommended.

If you have a Gamecube, I would suggest buying the Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes game. It's basically MGS1 with updated graphics. You'll have to pay more to get it, especially if you're already getting the PS1 version of MGS1 in the three game bundle, but I think the heavily improved graphics are worth it.

Also, if you're buying MGS2 for the backstory, you might as well get MGS1 for the same reason. MGS1 had a better storyline and ending anyway, and you'll get lost in MGS2 if you haven't played MGS1.

Metal Gear Solid 3 can be safely skipped if you're solely interested in the storyline, but it arguably has the best gameplay of the series besides MGS4.
