Better Game Ratings?

A panel for the United States House of Representatives has said that the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) should improve its rating system.

No due respect to this panel but you guys got to get your heads out of your ass and actually look at this system. The American Video Game Industry's which is run by the industry sponsored ESRB has the best system in america compared to other forms of media like the movie industry or music industry and TV. The ESRB has ratings that discriminate against ages (ex: T for Teens) and it lists the reasons why the ratings are there. (Read the rating panel on the back of any video game case made in the last like 10 years and you'll see a list of things in the game that may affect a parents decision to buy the game for they're child.) Also the ESRB will actually change they're ratings if new information arrises (GTA:SA) something I've never seen the movie industry do. Also these ratings are virtually mandetory I don't think you'll ever see an unrated video game at major retailers like you do movies. (ex: You can get Grandma's Boy the special Unrated Edition at Wal'mart but have you ever seen something like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Urated Version? No.) Ya, GTA:SA beat this system but it was immediately addressed by the ESRB.

The commitee also said, and I quote, "Simulated violence and sexual content found in video games are undermining the efforts of parents to responsibly raise their children." All of these things are clearly listed on the video game packaging. The only way this could undermine your efforts to responsibly raise your kids are if you are illiterate. And in that case you are probably not fit to be a mother any way. It is not not the ESRB's, Wal'Mart's, or the Government's responsibility to make sure your kids don't get games you don't want them to have. It's yours. Parents shut the hell up with these bull **** lawsuits and do YOUR OWN parenting responsibilities. That is all, thank you.
