It wasn't the After Hours event's game demos that particularly amazed me; instead, it was two things:
1) HomerCam. It was a wild romp of event-time craziness with Homer walking around and doing his thing. However, the part of HomerCam that struck me as the sweetest was when it was offline; although the video feed froze to an image detailing in theatre-style font that the show will be off for "just a second" (it was really more like 10 minutes), an audio feed still played of the barely coherent speech of Jeff talking to some guy and later with Homer talking also. Listening to the Gamespot crew attempting to resolve an apparent issue with a 360 and hooking it up online was unadulterated bliss.
2)Midnight Brown. They came on stage and just did their thing. Jeff's heavy breathing towards the end of the two-man white-boy hardcore electronica rap concerto surmised a deep-seated sense of excitement that was quietly exploding onstage.
Notable Mention: Alex N, Greg K, and Jeff totally owning their respective challengers in the lukewarm port of Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting. I could tell Greg was a little anxious and it may have affected his performance, though I have no doubts about his ability to destroy one at Street Fighter, much like Jeff did (to Vince Broady) in NFL Blitz during Button Mashing.
I walked away (actually clicked the x on the window bar) impressed. Good show: it was a fun way to end an otherwise boring night at home.
